[player_tooltip player_id='300530' first='Matthew' last='Leone'] | CENTER BACK

As of late, Leone has been in terrific form. What stands out about the young defender is the simplicity of his game and how balanced his skill set has become.

He's intelligent enough to keep up with virtually any forward and technically sound enough to fit into a variety of tactical systems. He doesn't overcomplicate the position, and that's part of what makes him such an intriguing prospect.

As he continues to physically mature and enters the next stage of his development, I believe we'll begin to see him tap into another level of his potential.

[player_tooltip player_id='300521' first='Luca' last='Shevchenko'] | GOALKEEPER

Shevchenko is the latest in what has become a remarkable lineage of goalkeeping talent developed within the [program_tooltip program_id='283671' first='LA' last='Galaxy'] Academy.

The club has established a strong reputation for identifying and developing local talent at the position, and Shevchenko continues that tradition.

At last year's Generation adidas Cup, he established himself as one of the country's most promising young goalkeepers, delivering crucial saves during matches and stepping up in high-pressure penalty shootouts.

His performances on those stages demonstrated the composure, shot-stopping ability, and confidence that have made him such an exciting prospect to follow.

THE NEXT STEP 🇺🇸

For both players, this national team opportunity represents another important milestone in their development.

Having watched these two young men progress through the academy ranks over the years, it's rewarding to see their performances earn recognition at the national level.

Both are deserving of this opportunity, and we'll be keeping a close eye on their continued development.
