A lot of changes in the North Coast Section rankings. A lot has happened since the last installment, which took place before the holiday break. Several new teams into the rankings and new No. 1 teams for both the girls and the boys.

GIRLS

The girls rankings are totally shaken up and look much different than they did before the holiday break. Monte Vista beating Carondelet shook up the top, and even though the Mustangs are the team that took down the No. 1 team, I couldn't hop them over the Wolves who are off to a fantastic start. Those three make up the top three.

Redwood joins Monte Vista in jumping up seven spots, climbing to No. 7 while Dougherty Valley's only loss is to SRV, and joins the top 10. Montgomery had a great win at Tam, launching it into the top ten. Campolindo joins the rankings, very deservedly so as does Livermore after some nice results.

BOYS

I was prepared to put Clayton Valley No. 1, but Las Lomas is still perfect on the season and beat a Northgate team that Clayton drew with. I had to move Las Lomas to No. 1. Acalanes makes the jump to No. 3. The Dons have one bad half against YV to count against them. Other than that, they've been as good as anyone.

De La Salle slides to No. 4, but the Spartans are in the driver's seat in the EBAL. The win over Monte Vista signals they are still the team to beat in the league, and they are in a perfect spot in the rankings because the three DAL teams above them will continue to beat up on each other. Freedom rounds out the top five. I gave them the tiebreaker with Monte Vista (they drew when they played each other) but Freedom recently beat a James Logan team that recently beat De La Salle.

San Rafael charges into the top 10 with a really good run of recent form, while crosstown and league rival Terra Linda is just two spots behind at No. 12. Dougherty Valley is back at No. 13.

Logan comes in No. 15 and the Colts were the hardest team for me to decide what to do with. On one hand, they have a win over DLS, but the results are so mixed with losses to unranked Newark, Cal and Dublin. They drew against San Ramon Valley. They beat a solid Foothill team. Kept it close with an excellent Freedom team. In the end, I slotted them into the bottom and we will see where Logan goes from there.
