Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Directly involved in both of Challenge’s goals, Babajanov was the most influential player on the field. The striker didn’t get much service inside the box and did a great job of making herself available and finding ways to get involved by making runs behind the backline and dropping deeper to get on the end of long passes and combine with her teammates. Babajanov did very well in her goal, tracking the ball after the corner kick was taken and being very quick to react when it landed near her. She was even better in the team’s second goal, timing her run extremely well, scanning the penalty box and delivering a perfect cross to Marino, all of which in a key moment of the match.

Babajanov is a forward with the Challenge SC G09 team that will be faced with Sting Black G09 and DKSC ‘ last=”] G08/07 this weekend in College Station. A very complete attacking player, she’s mostly used at center forward and scores goals at a very good rate for the team. An Israeli Youth international, Babajanov has a very complete game and is capable of operating as more of a traditional target striker, using her body to get on the end of long passes and holding on to the ball until her teammates approach, or playing with more freedom in the final third, dropping back and drifting wide to connect with her teammates and make plays. A lefty, she hits the ball extremely well, converting well from close range and displaying great precision in set pieces and shots from distance.

The freshman was the focal point of Bellaire’s offense in the match and almost everything the Cardinals created went through her. Babajanov spent most of the first half as an attacking midfielder and used her body well to get on the end of long passes and make plays, either finding one of the wide midfielders with good passes or turning on opposing defenders and making runs on the ball through the ball. In the second half, she moved up to appear as a striker and became more goal-dangerous, working closer to the goal and consistently creating problems for Lake Creek’s defenders. Babajanov showed great composure and quality to take the penalty kick and score her team’s only goal in the match.

Babajanov was Bellaire’s most dangerous player in the match. She was isolated up top for most of the time, but still found ways to keep the ball, beat defenders off the dribble and push it into the final third. A lefty, the Isreal Youth International couldn’t beat Lamar’s center backs Scheet and Reese, who had both great performances, but she made them work hard to contain her. Babajanov was involved in each of Bellaire’s few productive attacking plays in the match, firing a pair of long-distance shots and taking a free kick that created problems for the Texans’ defenders. She also helped the team defend, dropping back to midfield and winning possession on some occasions.
