Headed to THE Ohio State University in 2027 Selvaggio is an excellent goalkeeper. I think this is a great fit overall. With any international player she will have to miss some games here and there but Sasha will have the opportunity to start in her Freshmen year with most goalies on the roster being Juniors and Seniors currently for the Buckeyes.

Selvaggio is an incredible athlete and with good height, she is really hard to beat. She’s incredibly mobile, shows the ability to cover the roof of her net and her far post as she is hard to beat with a speculative shot from distance. Her footwork is subtle and developed, she shades well and reads the game in front of her deftly. She closes out quickly, she likes to take the ball out of the air and is comfortable transitioning quickly the other direction.

Selvaggio has good size at nearly 6-feet and she pairs that with really good athleticism. She moves incredibly well, she shows quickness and the ability to change directions if her body is going one way and the shot goes another. She’s very instinctive and shows wonderful reaction time. She also has very strong hands, so if she gets even her fingers to a ball, she can keep it from going in. Her ability to read attackers and their movements serves her very well when she’s in a 1v1 situation or in a penalty shootout.

Selvaggio, once again, showed why she is one of the best goalkeepers in the nation in this age group during this event. The first half of the game against Minnesota Thunder was a great example of her quality. Selvaggio came up with a number of saves when called up. Her block early in the win over SUSA FC was also a highlight-worthy play. Legends, as a squad, ended the event with three shutout victories.

There is a point in every game that Sasha Selvaggio makes me say “What a save!” There are few goalkeepers from the 2027 class who have the capability to change a game in the same way that she does, which is a high praise considering the depth and top-level talent from this class in that position. Selvaggio’s quality jumps off the screen on game film on these highlight-reel efforts. The one aspect of her game that could improve this season is her command of her box. She’s so comfortable at catching the ball in traffic that she can sometimes overlooks getting the players around her organized to make her job easier. She also seems a bit reluctant at times to slide to claim the ball on balls over the top of the defense. It’s an area that could use some improvement for the future. That said, she is a Youth National Team level prospect and has the potential to be the best goalkeeper in the country in this class.

The Legeneds goalkeeper made a great save on the penalty kick early in the game. She did well on a couple of crosses too. She is physical in creating space for herself. She punched the ball away at the high point. The potential for Selvaggio is definitely there for her to be a top option at goalkeeper in this class.
