headline this group, but there is quite a bit of depth here too.
Check out a scouting report on some of the other names to know from this position.
There is a point in every game that Sasha Selvaggio makes me say “What a save!” There are few goalkeepers from the 2027 class who have the capability to change a game in the same way that she does, which is a high praise considering the depth and top-level talent from this class in that position. Selvaggio’s quality jumps off the screen on game film on these highlight-reel efforts. The one aspect of her game that could improve this season is her command of her box. She’s so comfortable at catching the ball in traffic that she can sometimes overlooks getting the players around her organized to make her job easier. She also seems a bit reluctant at times to slide to claim the ball on balls over the top of the defense. It’s an area that could use some improvement for the future. That said, she is a Youth National Team level prospect and has the potential to be the best goalkeeper in the country in this class.
Scanlon is a goalkeeerp for the Santa Rosa 09 ECNL team. She was part of the U.S. Soccer U14 Girls National Team West Region camp earlier this year. She’s been an outstanding goalkeeper for Santa Rosa for some time. Good with the ball at her feet, Scanlon can switch the point of attack quickly. She is one of the most accurate passers for the position in this class. She is capable of the big-time save as well. She has excellent diving technique on high shots. She could improve on her approach when coming off her line when closing down attackers on breakaway – which is rare considering the defense in front of her. Scanlon is a top prospect from Northern California.
Cyril is the goal keeper on the Beach FC 09 ECNL team. She has been the starter for that team for some time. Her consistency stands out from game film. She makes the routine save and instills confidence in her teammate. She is not the tallest player for the position, but she is among the best goalkeepers in tracking the ball on crosses. Cyril is a key piece for the successful Beach squad.
Freeman is the goalkeeper for the Fram 09 Girls Academy team. She earned a spot on the Girls Academy Southwest Talent ID last season – and will likely be a top contender for a repeat appearance this season. Freeman is also taking part in the US Soccer Talent ID event later this month. She is an excellent shot-stopper. The 5-9 goalkeeper has all of the tools to be a top prospect in that position.
