Roshelle Gobin | Prep Soccer Scout
A dual-sport athlete who brings flag football skills to the goalkeeper position. She pairs imposing size and athleticism with refined hand‑eye coordination. Her height and vertical leap have always set her apart, allowing her to control the penalty area. Now showing those same traits in the end zone. Tracking the ball in traffic, attacking space, and finishing plays with authority. Playing on JSerra’s flag team has refined her reaction speed, helping her secure difficult catches and recover quickly after saves. Her blend of reach, timing, and soft hands makes her a rare goalkeeper whose flag experience directly enhances her presence and play on the soccer field.

She is the 5th ranked goalkeeper for the class of 2027. Her ability to cover a wide range of the net can be attributed to her 6’1” frame. She is good at making effective decisions while under pressure. Being a multi-sport athlete (flag football, track and field, and handball) definitely helps her with her goalkeeping skills. Kai has recently trained with the U-17 USYNT in Georgia and I look forward to seeing her with more opportunities wearing the Red, White, and Blue.

I did see her get scored on which is rare but it was a PK so the odds aren’t in the goalies favor. Other then that she was amazing. Showing her incredible distribution and athleticism with a number of big time saves.

Beary is the top goalkeeper from the 2027 class and continues to show why she is so highly rated with every opportunity. There is a lot to like about her game, but the aspect that stood out to me on Saturday was her leadership qualities. In a small-side game when everyone wants to score, she had her teammates playing in defense with conviction. She is a vocal leader and the way she communicates with teammates is extraordinary. Beary is a competitive player and demands the best of herself. As long as she continues to enjoy the process of working toward that goal, there is every belief that she will be playing at the highest level of the game in future.

Beary will be one of the standout keepers of the tournament whether So Cal Blues make it beyond the quarterfinal or not. That being said, she is going to need to be at her peak in order to help her squad on to the next rounds. Her three shutouts in Seattle put her in esteemed company compared to the teams and goalkeepers that made the Elite 8 in Richmond, so don’t be surprised if she shows out again.

So Cal Blues had a number of terrific performances across the board. Beary, the star goalkeeper, led the way with three shutouts from four games. She was probably at her best in the draw against Solar. Beary’s comfort off her line and skill with the ball at her feet makes her a difference-maker for her side.
