Expert Analysis

An important part of a goalkeeper’s game that often goes underrated is quick distribution, which can create immediate scoring opportunities. McBride understands this, and it has become a key part of her approach in goal. From there, she shows strong technique with her hands. Real confidence when sliding or using her lower body to protect the net. She also brings steady communication and direction on the field, guiding her back line with clarity. Altogether, these traits show that McBride has a firm understanding of the game between the posts.

She is constant fixture in the U.S. youth national teams, while earning her first U14 call-up in 2023. Her nine U.S. Soccer Talent ID Center appearances is an amazing feat. Most recently, Molly had a great showing at ECNL Phoenix in November. One of the best goalkeepers from the 2027 class. With multiple USYNT call-ups, it’s just a matter of time before she climbs the ranks as a top 10 player. I’ve evaluated her on at least 4 occasions. Each time it seems as if she’s getting stronger, more athletic, and calm and in control. She plays with such intensity that it feeds off on her defensive line, which makes strong buildups from the back. This style of play created opportunities for success as the ECNL team made it to the final round of 16 and lost a heartbreaker. Definitely better days are coming as Molly recently committed to the University of Florida. Can’t wait to see what’s next in her soccer journey.

Her exceptional athletic abilities are some of the reasons she pushed her team to the Final 16. She made tough saves by taking on players in 1v1’s in the box, going up high, and cutting off angles of attack. Molly is also rated as the second highest goalkeeper in the 2027 class. Her constant training sessions and participation in ID camps is definitely getting her on the radar of top D1 programs. Molly is in the USYNT pool and attended the U-15 Training Camp in 2024. I can’t wait to see her in the Red, White, and Blue again.

Definitely a top level goalkeeper. Being rated as the second highest keeper in the 2027 class, she always delivers. Making saves at difficult ranges and angles is due to an exceptional athletic ability. She made at least 4 saves on the day. Prior to this match, she and her defense recorded an impressive 12 shutouts. Her high soccer IQ gives her an advantage as she puts herself in the best positions against the angles of attack.

McBride is the second highest rated keeper in the state, and I have written about her extensively. Check out her player page on PrepSoccer. I am not sure what else I can say about her, but she keeps deserving accolades and I am looking for her to propel Vista del Lago to great heights this winter. She is a player who can make all the saves, from point blank to the difficult diving, and sprawling saves. She has great body control and athleticism, she is poised and calm, she leads and she is great with the ball at her feet.

McBride kept three clean sheets at the event, commanding her box well, making save after save in a multitude of ways. She showed how balanced she is, making reaction saves on shots with pace from right in front of goal, or closing down angles and making kick saves. She seemed calm and poised and in control during the entire three game.

The Youth International from San Juan SC is a force to be reckoned with. She was playing like a girl possessed in the shooting drills as she saved anything that was savable. Great reaction speed and strong hands. Has a sense of urgency to start counter attacks which in the modern game is very important for Keepers. She will have colleges all over her pretty soon.

McBride and the San Juan defense only gave up two goals during the three-game event in Southern California. Both of those goals came on the opening day win over Slammers FC HB Koge – and McBride nearly kept one of them out on an outrageous save that showcased her altheticism and quick reactions. McBride was a stud in goal for San Juan in the victory. She did well off her line and shut down chances for the opposition. McBride continued to show she is a top goalkeeper in this age group.
