Corona is exactly the type of player that fits our standards – an impactful player at the highest youth level now with nearly endless potential. The youngster from Legends has been on the radar among top teams and scouts for years. She’s been playing up age groups and been identified as a top player even while playing against 07s. For those unfamiliar with her game, the easiest player comparison is Melanie Barcenas Melanie Barcenas M CA . Corona has a bit more bite defensively, while Barcenas has a bit more magic in her boots with her passing. Corona has the potential to elevate that side of her game. The more experience she gets as the focal point of her team’s attack, the more she will improve and evolve as a playmaker in the final third. Corona was an ECNL All-American honoree in the 08 age group last season. She is also part of the US Youth National Team.
Beary was one of our top goalkeepers in the 2026 class initially. It was our mistake on her class. Now, in her correct class of 2027, she is the top ranked prospect in the position and one of the best players from the class overall. Beary, 6-1, offers the physical profile of a college keeper already. The potential is there for a player who could be a star in that position for a long time. Her performance at the ECNL playoffs was especially noteworthy and earned her a spot on our Best XI from the event. She is also a multi-sport athlete and had some personal bests in the discus event this past summer.
There is a lot of depth in the goalkeeper position for this class. Beary is a top 08 goalkeeper who is a 2027. Molly McBride Molly McBride 5’9″ | GK Vista Del Lago | 2027 State #14 Nation CA and Alexandra (Sasha) Selvaggio Alexandra (Sasha) Selvaggio 5’10” | GK Harvard Westlake | 2027 State #131 Nation CA are both in the youth national team picture from the 09 age group in this state. McBride was part of the ID2 tour and called into the US U14 National Team. Selvaggio was outstanding for Legends during the ECNL playoffs over the summer. Camila Haro Camila Haro GK State CA is another top goalkeeper from this class. She is part of the Blues program and was recently called into the Mexico Youth National Team. She is one to watch this season.
Highlights
The aforementioned McBride also finds herself in the top five in our rankings. She was one of the goalkeepers who made the full-time switch to the position pretty early on in her playing days. She takes a lot of joy and pride in stop shots and helping her team win. The aspect of her game that really shines is her quick reactions. She gets to shots that many top goalkeepers don’t because she has the quick twitch to leap for the shot bound for the corner. McBride is a top goalkeeper on the national level and continues to show it with her recent play for her ECNL team.
Highlights
Nguyen is one of the top center forwards in this class. She is a player with a well-rounded game who has spent a lot of time on the fundamentals. The strong technical foundation makes her a difficult player for defenders to mark. She is comfortable on either foot and can spin a defender off her going in either direction. She is often double-teamed at the club level as both center backs prioritize stopping her to slow down the So Cal Blues attack. She is still effective and efficient even though the opposition is keyed in on her. With a high work rate and a determined focus, Nguyen is a prolific scorer from the No. 9 position. She shined for the US Club Soccer ID2 Tour and that was a small preview of her international future as she looks like a key part of the US Youth National Team in the 09 age group.
Uscanga is one of those perfect example of soccer starts at home. She comes from a soccer family. Her older brother is a top player too. Uscanga is one of the best players from the class of 2027 in California. She is a center midfielder with excellent ball control. She had opportunities last season to play up an age group or two in the ECNL. She looked the part against the faster speed of play from those older teams. Uscanga’s composure on the ball and passing really separate her from her peers.
