Varela will lead the line for Paetow as they host the Panther Bracket, in which they battle La Porte in their opening match. She’s a versatile player, who can play anywhere in the attack and I expect her to be used as a striker for Paetow, where her goalscoring ability can be better explored. Varela is very technical, intelligent and dynamic with the ball and does a great job of finding pockets of space to play. She is very strong in 1v1 plays, is very direct around the penalty box and doesn’t hesitate in finishing chances when she has a good look.

Varela and her Albion Hurricanes FC RL 07 team finished fourth in the Texas Conference with eight wins, one loss and five ties. She plays primarily on the left for them, but has excellent movement off the ball and the freedom to roam around the final third, looking for the best spot to make plays. Very technical and quick in her mind, Varela can dribble in tight spaces with ease and is very direct around the penalty box. She’s also an excellent finisher, who uses both feet well to send the ball into the back of the net.
