Small is a very technical player. IMG Academy, her club, utilizes her as a midfielder – defensive with the opportunity to join the attack when she sees the chance. She sees the game so well that her club coaches basically turn over the keys to the gameplan to Small and let her quarterback her side. At the youth international level, she has played the left back position. She could play either role at the next level, which is a major reason why she is ranked so highly in the PrepSoccer National Rankings.
