Lopez notched a goal and an assist in Austin FC ‘s 4-2 triumph over Albion SC Merced in Group O. The midfielder had a very complete and efficient performance in the center of the field, getting involved in a lot of what his team did. Lopez delivered good intensity on both sides of the ball and was very important with his ability to dictate the rhythm of plays with his distribution, while also appearing in different spots in the attacking half. His goal was among the most beautiful of the day, as he dribbled at least three defenders in a strong run through the center before sending the ball into the back of the net with a well-placed left-footed shot.

Lopez is a well-rounded and reliable midfielder who gives Austin solid production in the center of the field. He has a great engine, is always on the move, and performs well on both sides of the ball. Mainly used as a central midfielder, Lopez contributes to Austin’s defensive efforts with high intensity and the ability to cover ground. He’s very skilled on the ball, showing good passing vision and accuracy to link plays in the attacking half. Lopez also does a good job of getting into the final third, showing solid dribbling skills and standing out for his ability to switch directions when progressing on the field.

Lopez is a box-to-box midfielder with Austin FC and earned the 13th spot in our Rankings. He joined the club a few years ago, coming from FC Barcelona Austin, and earned a place in the club’s U15 team in the last MLS Next season, also being selected for a USYNT ID camp in April. Lopez’s game is very direct and offensive-minded, as every time he gets on the ball, he looks for a way to move it upfield, be it by dribbling it through the field or passing it to a teammate in the attacking half. He uses both feet very well to dribble and pass and can be very difficult to stop when he gets going because of his quality on the ball.
