Wang is part of our Watchlist. He represents the Houston Rangers in the MLS Next League at the club level and attends Fort Bend Austin High School. An offensive-minded box-to-box midfielder, he stands out for his cleanliness and intelligence on the ball. Wang sees the game very well and doesn’t spend much time on the ball, often using smart first-time passes to break the opponents’ press and get it to an open teammate. He’s very quick with his on-the-ball movement and also offers solid contributions on defense, playing with great determination and working hard to win the ball.

Playing a box-to-box role, Wang helped the Rangers dominate the center of the field with his intelligent and efficient game. The midfielder didn’t put a foot wrong in the entire match and was just very effective with everything he did, providing a great deal of stability for his team. Wang was very active defensively, popping up in the right spots to stop plays and managing to win duels even against more physical opponents. His intelligent game also made an offensive impact, as he consistently managed to find solutions to keep the ball or move it to a teammate when under pressure and facilitated some of the Rangers’ offensive plays with quick passes in the attacking half.
