He plays for Bridgeland at the high school level and captains the Houston Rangers U17 team in the MLS Next League. An attacking midfielder, he has excellent technical skills and relies a lot on his high soccer IQ to make a difference in the center of the field, making the right choices when on the ball and executing plays at a high level. A quality passer and strong in 1v1 plays, McHugh also brings a lot of intensity to the game, moving very well off the ball and covering ground when playing defense. He does a great job in set pieces too, often creating chances out of free kicks and corner kicks.
