Texas HS State Tournament Top Performers – Division 4A Boys

Cantu's heroics began in the semifinals, when he scored the game-winning goal against San Elizario with less than a minute to play. The left-footed striker came up big in the Championship game too, scoring twice within the first five minutes and giving his team total control of the match, and was awarded as the Most Valuable Player. A sophomore, he stepped up to a key role with the Pirates and remained calm and consistency in the biggest moment of the season, leading the team to a pair of shutouts in Georgetown. The forward was on the field for 78 minutes and was involved in two of the key plays of the match, scoring the Wildcats' first goal in the match and assisting for Tony Sanchez's game-winning goal on overtime.
