<p>In the Northern California rain, the <strong>Division I </strong>girls game saw Archbishop Mitty claim the NorCal state title, and stake a claim to the No. 1 ranking in the state, topping Del Oro in penalties after the game was scoreless through regulation and two overtimes.</p>

<p>The Monarchs won 5-3 in penalties as [player_tooltip player_id='33291' first='Jordan' last='Geis'], Tvesa Vathulya, Megan Haniger, Jasmine Wheeler and [player_tooltip player_id='83851' first='Angie' last='Cao'] all buried their tries, with Cao securing the win.</p>

<p>"This was a total team effort against a very organized defense," Mitty coach JT Hanley said. "Horrible weather conditions and certainly not a festival of football, but we were very composed and disciplined."</p>

<p>In <strong>Southern California's Division I match</strong>, Santa Margarita got redemption from its Southern Section Open Division loss to Santiago-Corona, winning in penalties after a 2-2 draw through regulation and overtime. The Eagles won 5-3 in PK's. [player_tooltip player_id='19406' first='Faith' last='George'] and [player_tooltip player_id='18939' first='Molly' last='MacMillan'] hit their kicks, then after a [player_tooltip player_id='20057' first='Peyton' last='Trayer'] save, the Eagles were up 2-1 after two takes each. </p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='77911' first='Cora' last='Fry'] and [player_tooltip player_id='77888' first='Jastel' last='David'] delivered, setting up [player_tooltip player_id='77959' first='Emma' last='Newman'], who hit her kick to seal the win. </p>

<p>George scored the first goal of the game, a powerful right-footed shot from 30 yards out. [player_tooltip player_id='18921' first='Krystal' last='Medina'] leveled for Santiago. Just after halftime, David gave Santa Margarita the lead on a nice little one-time finish off a Newman cross from the right side. [player_tooltip player_id='50061' first='Alexis' last='Coughlin'] scored the goal for Santiago that sent it to overtime with less than 10 minutes left.</p>

<p>The <strong>SoCal Division II </strong>game featured the darling of the tournament, as No. 8 Westview sought for a third straight upset on its way to a surprising state title, and did just that, beating Mission Hills 1-0. </p>

<p>With just minutes left, Emmy Monk had the moment of her high school career, scoring the goal off a corner from [player_tooltip player_id='79760' first='Kaitlyn' last='Arciaga']. For Monk, it had been two ACL surgeries, and essentially three years of high school soccer missed, making it special to end her senior year with her most important goal.</p>

<p>Westview, after a bit of an uncertain first half, really controlled the game in the second half. Keeper [player_tooltip player_id='78359' first='Soraya' last='Souvanaphong'] had big saves, including a huge one off the line in the second half.</p>

<p>This was an incredible finish to a season for a team that was 5-6-2 after a 3-0 loss to San Marcos on January 19.</p>

<p>"The kids really stepped up and we got to tell them how proud we are of them because of how they played as a team, didn't do too much and didn't let the moment get too big," Westview coach Peter Stogsdill said. "We knew would could play with anybody with our schedule as we played every top ten team in San Diego. Maybe you wouldn't have thought this could happen in January, but we started buying into playing as a team more and different kids stepped up every game."</p>

In the <strong>NorCal DIII match</strong>, University topped Rio Americano 4-2 in PK's after a scoreless draw. Cece Erhart was excellent in defense all game long, and delivered the winning PK.</p>

<p>The <strong>SoCal DIII game</strong>, Granada Hills Charter topped Apple Valley 5-3 in PK's after a 1-1 draw, and in the <strong>DIV game</strong>, Louisville beat Arroyo Grande 1-0. The <strong>NorCal DIV</strong> game saw Marin Catholic win an overtime thriller as [player_tooltip player_id='54217' first='Sloane' last='Carey'] scored the match-winner on an assist from Savannah Browne. Ava Korich scored the first goal as Brianna Frade found her with a cross.</p>

<p><strong>The DV game</strong> in NorCal, Winters brought home the school's first state title, winning 5-4 in PK's as Violet Tuel hit the fifth kick for the Warriors, then saved the fifth Hilmar attempt. Diamond Ranch beat Bell Gardens 4-0 in the <strong>SoCal DV match</strong>. [player_tooltip player_id='154741' first='Jaidyn' last='Williams'] had three goals for Diamond Ranch.</p>

<p>The <strong>SoCal DI game</strong>, St. Augustine completed an incredible run of 17 unbeaten matches, 16 of them wins, not losing since December 27 in the SoCal College Showcase. The Saints won the San Diego Section's Open Division, then beat the two top teams in the state, Arlington and then No. 1 Mater Dei in the final. </p>

<p>It was the Saints 14th clean sheet of the season, and the first time Mater Dei had been shutout all year. [player_tooltip player_id='48943' first='Gus' last='Velez'] had the first goal and Nico Zarur the second, as St. Augustine laid claim to the top ranking in California.</p>

<p><strong>The NorCal DII game</strong> saw Burlingame beat Dougherty Valley 2-1, Burlingame scored the golden-goal winner in overtime. [player_tooltip player_id='147474' first='Shota' last='Lam'] had Dougherty Valley's goal in regulation. <strong>The SoCal DII game</strong> saw Servite clinch it's second regional title in three years, and third overall, beating league-foe Orange Lutheran for the third time this season. This was the second game in a row where [player_tooltip player_id='8274' first='Mattias' last='Kremer'] had the match-winning goal for a 1-0 win.</p>

<p><strong>The SoCal DIII</strong> match saw Foothill-Bakersfield erase the memory of a 5-1 loss to Porterville in December, turning the tables and beating the Panthers 5-0. The leading men for Foothill, Josue Chavez and Jovanny Salazar had two goals each, and Salazar had three assists. Newark Memorial claimed the 2-1 win over Cardinal Newman in the <strong>NorCall DIII match</strong>, where Eriberto Bermudez had a great game as keeper, coming up with several big stops, and 11 total saves. Noel Cabrales scored his 38th goal of the season.</p>

<p>In the <strong>NorCal DIV</strong> game, King City beat Archie Williams 2-0. In the <strong>SoCal DIV game</strong>, Oceanside finished off a great season, scoring three second half goals to cap off a 19-1-4 season. Kellen Love started the scoring and minutes later Christian Sanchez scored, with both goals being assisted by Lincoln Newcomer. Braulio Ibarra capped the scoring with a PK.</p>

<p><strong>The SoCal DV</strong> match saw Maranatha beat Castle Park 2-1, and in the <strong>NorCal DV</strong> match, Washington-San Francisco beat Stevenson 2-1.</p>
