There will be plenty of exciting matches going on around the Lone Star State over the next three weeks and Prep Soccer will preview some of them. The bi-district round will open the postseason, with matches taking place on March 25 and 26, and here’s one to watch:
Cy Ranch vs. Klein – March 26 – 5:30 PM – @ Pridgeon Stadium
Cy Ranch
The Lady Mustangs finished second in District 16, having amassed ten wins, one loss and three ties – they were also the second-best side in the district offensively and defensively, with 61 goals scored and five conceded. Cy Ranch’s season record shows 15 wins, three losses and three ties.
Sophomore Alexis Crawford Alexis Crawford GK Cypress Ranch | 2026 TX has established herself as one of the top goalkeepers in the area and is a force between the posts. Junior Olivia Aguilar leads the team’s defensive efforts at center back and can also be dangerous in set pieces. Junior Addison Shih and sophomore Lexie Ryan bring the intensity in midfield. Cy Ranch have tons of dangerous offensive options, including the pace of junior Kamrynn Davis Kamrynn Davis F Cypress Ranch | 2025 State TX , the goalscoring of junior Maija Tate Maija Tate D Cy Ranch | 2025 TX , the opportunism of senior Hannah Carrier and the versatility of sophomore Edie Dispensa.
Klein
The Lady Bearkats ranked third in District 15 with ten wins, two losses and two ties – the team had 35 goals and conceded ten. Their entire season has had 14 wins, seven losses and three ties heading into the postseason.
Junior goalkeeper Madelyn Shipley has come up big for Klein in key moments of the season. Senior center back Gabrielle Halliburton anchors the team’s backline, which also counts on the energy and versatility of junior outside back Ava Matthews. Sophomore Victoria Delatorre Victoria Delatorre D Klein | 2026 TX plays a big role for the team at defensive midfielder and combines well with junior Samantha Sampson. In the attack, senior Maria Swanson brings a high work rate on the right while sophomore Olivia Knight is an excellent finisher and can be lethal, especially in transition.
