Girls Northern California Prep Soccer Camp Standouts

It was a beautiful day in Los Gatos at Foothill College on Saturday. Young up and comers from the 2026-2028 graduating class took part in a four-hour camp with some technical work for the first two hours where they did passing, receiving, shooting and possession drills. They then moved into some small-sided games and an 11 v 11 match at the end. The standard of play was very good considering that most of these young ladies don't know each other. Here are seven players that stood out from the day.    Of all the players at this event this young lady stood out to me the most. She has all the physical, technical, and psycho-social attributes to be in the Youth National Team set-up. Ms. Leifried checks her shoulders like a seasoned professional and always wants the ball. She seems to be comfortable playing multiple positions and is a true leader directing her teammates into optimal positions. Great vision and instincts when she's on the ball. Powerful shooter and has a long passing range. The younger cousin of speed demon, USMNT & Chivas star Cade Cowell it seems the elite athleticism is in the blood.     The El Salvadorian Youth National team player showed her pedigree on Saturday. So comfortable dribbling into midfield from center back and distributing. She's a physical player who moves other bodies very well. She's on a very good De Anza Force team who should compete for an ECNL National Championship this year. Many national team players are faced with a choice of pursuing a professional opportunities or college scholarships and Hernandez will be no different.     The social media sensation Swindle is a technician out there on the field. She was one of the younger players on the field and although she looks it physically she did not look out of place one bit. Her touch and vision are remarkable. You can really see that she works on her game tirelessly on her own. Once she develops physically watch out!       The So Cal Blues forward is very sharp technically and is excellent at turning out of pressure. She is dangerous on the dribble and is a winger who is comfortable coming inside and distributing. Fernandez has a canny ability in finding space to operate and has all the ball skills to be very successful moving forward.     Kaefer is very comfortable in possession. Not surprising from an MVLA product. Combines with her teammates very well and a tough competitor on the defensive end. Two-footed player who finds passing lanes effectively.     Big, strong and fast attacker who has great hold up skills. The ball tends to stick when she gets it into her feet. Really good at getting her midfield involved and then spinning off into space. The San Juan center forward has the attributes that college coaches tend to look for.     A very calm and controlled defender. She reads the defensive side of the game exceptionally and rarely loses a tackle. Travers seems to have a sense of what the opposition is doing before they do it, which gives her the ability to make a ton of interceptions. Very sensible on the ball and figured out quickly what her teammates strengths and weaknesses are. Also has excellent speed to chase down through balls. She's a thinker with a bright future and on a very good Bay Area Surf team going into the 2024-2025 season.
