The Division 1 CCS bracket of 8 teams is the most talented playoff bracket in the state. You have youth national team players, big time division 1 college commits and a lot of young up and coming talent. I like that they make the first round of this section only 8 teams. I believe that it makes it more competitive from the get go of the postseason, as none of these teams are push overs and every game will be a dog fight. Here is the group of 8 teams who have qualified and compete in the Division 1 Central Coast Section tournament as well as some players on each team to keep an eye on.

#1 Seed St. Francis- Headed into the postseason with an impressive 15-2-1 record and ranked as the 15th best team in the state of California according to MaxPreps. They have a fantastic pair of seniors in [player_tooltip player_id='63471' first='Mimi' last='Yamamoto'] who is a Bay Area Surf product on her way to Utah next season, and Coco Heith who is headed to division 1 school University of Chicago in the fall. They will be key factors in what will be their last run at a State Championship. The Lancers also have two up and coming freshmen that need to be accounted for in [player_tooltip player_id='187366' first='Kiyomi' last='Yoshimura'] who is an MVLA product currently ranked 6th in PrepSoccer's 2028 California rankings and her club and high school teammate [player_tooltip player_id='199889' first='Tori' last='Williams'] who is currently ranked 16th in PrepSoccer's 2028 California rankings.

#2 Seed Archbishop Mitty- The Monarchs head into this years postseason with a 15-1-3 record and are ranked 17th in the state of California. They face Woodside at home in round 1. They have a stacked squad with a very balanced attack. Two of the most talented players in their respective classes play on this team. Senior and USC commit [player_tooltip player_id='19981' first='Murphy' last='Walsh'] leads the way for Mitty. The MVLA product is an incredibly versatile player. She can play anywhere up the spine of a team and although I don't have official stats on this claim she seems to win 99% of her aerial duels. [player_tooltip player_id='111097' first='Chloe' last='Miller'] is a special young talent. The freshmen Center Back, MVLA product is ranked as PrepSoccer's #1 player in California. She has played a major role in the 2009 Women's Youth National Team. She is the most dominant defender I have watched in her age group. Can she add a CCS Championship to her already impressive resume?

#3 Seed Leigh High School- The Longhorns enter postseason play with a 13-2-2 record and sit at 27th in the California rankings. They face a solid Saint Ignatius team at home tomorrow morning. Superstar Junior [player_tooltip player_id='111251' first='Maggie' last='Currie'] is a University of North Carolina commit is unsurprisingly leading the way for Leigh this season with 18 goals and 10 assists so far. She is being aided by Senior [player_tooltip player_id='19715' first='Kennadi' last='Borg'] who has chipped in 8 goals and 8 assists herself. Leigh also have a promising young freshmen on their hands [player_tooltip player_id='111131' first='Shani' last='Outlaw'] who has scored 8 goals and dished out 5 dimes. Ultimately it is my belief that this team will go as far as Youth National teamer Currie can take them. If this Longhorn team can come away with a CCS championship Currie has to be in the Gatorade Player of the Year discussion.

#4 Seed Leland High School- At 10-2-6 Leland has had an up and down season thus far. The competition they have played this must have been very good to be ranked 54th in the state rankings so the record may not tell the whole story. They have a sister duo that is worth keeping an eye on. Sophomore Allison and Senior [player_tooltip player_id='19102' first='Annika' last='Park'] are both MVLA products who have done most of the offensive damage for the Chargers. Annika is headed to the Division III National Champion Washington University in St. Louis in the fall. Can her and her sister finish their high school career together as CCS champions? They will have their hands full with a very good Los Gatos team in round 1.

#5 Seed Los Gatos- Looking at this team's roster it seems to me they may be a little under seeded. The Wildcats possess two phenomenal up and coming talents. Junior striker Ale Munneke has scored 18 goals and passed for 3 assists entering the postseason. She is headed to Stanford in the Fall of 2026 and for good reason. [program_tooltip program_id='280274' first='De' last='Anza Force'] product [player_tooltip player_id='82602' first='Abby' last='Nelson'] is having a fantastic sophomore season with 12 goals and 9 assists headed into the postseason. Nelson is one of the most complete players in the 2027 class. She makes a massive impact on both ends of the field protecting her own goal and producing on the offensive end. She plays with so much heart and passion she would be an incredible addition to any division 1 program around the country. Can these two stars lead their team to playoff glory?

#6 Seed Saint Ignatius- Sitting at 9-6-5 and the 81st ranked team in California according to MaxPreps the Wildcats head into this postseason as a relatively unknown as they don't seem to keep their statistics updated. However, I hear they are a very good side. They have faced their first round opponent Leigh earlier this season and came out with a 1-1 tie although I don't think either team had a full squad due to ECNL event. Unfortunately for SI I think their postseason run comes to an end in the first round. For their sake I hope they prove me wrong.

#7 Seed Woodside- Sitting at 10-4-6 and ranked 151st in the state headed into the postseason this team would seem like the biggest imposter in this tournament. They seem to have snuck in under the radar into this Division 1 bracket with their results it would have seemed more appropriate to put them in Division 2. They are facing Mitty in the first round and will have their hands full. Senior Captain Mariam Yusuf has been their star this season with 13 goals and 3 assists. I think they get bounced early.

#8 Seed Pioneer High School- Squeaking into the Division 1 field is the Pioneer Mustangs who are 13-2-4 and are ranked 109th in the state of California. They are lead by three seniors Destini Twiggs, Rylee Ronchetti, and Patricia Acoba. They will need their leadership and production to pull off a huge first round upset against St. Francis.
