ECNL Texas: Special Midfielders in the 09 division

I got to watch her when her team tied Challenge SC 0-0 on Saturday and she left a strong impression, playing with great intenstiy and efficiency. Moran operated as a central midfielder for them and was very involved in everythign the team did on and off the ball. She got on the ball when they had possession and did an excellent job of moving it upfield with smart, quick passes and runs through the middle - she also appeared well inside the penalty box to finish chances on some occasions. I got to watch the first of them, a 1-0 win over SLSG Navy on Satuday, in which she dominated the center of the field for her team. Playing as a defensive midfielder, Burtnett doesn't let anything go past her, making strong tackles and appearing well to cover her teammates. She was very active in their fist match in the event, a 1-0 loss to Sting Royal, appearing well in midfield to help them create chances. Restovich did a great job of consistently making herself available to her teammates, tracking the ball well and popping up in great spots. They dominated Kansas City Athletics to a 2-0 victory on Saturday and she was decisive in their victory, assisting to the team's first goal. Swann was very intense on and off the ball and her smart movement consistently got her into good spots to make plays. The midfielder was extremely difficult to dispossess and used her technical skills to create chances with good passes and aggressive runs. I got to watch them in their most difficult match of the weekend, a 4-1 loss to San Diego Surf, and, despite the result, she still had a solid game. With San Diego heavily dominating possession, the Texans relied on transition plays to attack and Gonzales did a good job of quickly getting the ball forward with smart, direct passes. I got to watch their 2-1 win over Eclipse Select on Monday and was impressed with the level of intensity she was able to display on the third day of play. Ramirez was the engine of Sting's midfield, covering a lot of ground and appearing well on both sides of the ball. She worked really hard to win possession, appearing everywhere on the defensive half to make stops.
