Week #3 ECNL G10 – High powered offense from Class of 2028

[program_tooltip program_id='283434' first='Pleasanton' last='Rage'] 10G took on the [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] 10G in the Spring 2025 Season ECNL (Elite Clubs National League). The overcast slowly subsided, and it was a slightly warm 60 degrees for the majority of the match. The De Anza College Soccer Field and Stadium played host to the three ECNL matches I covered throughout the day. The nostalgia of being at the De Anza field brought back memories of when I was an assistant coach for the men's soccer team back in 2005 and 2006. Pleasant memories of my past may have fueled me to push on to complete this third match.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906217252850119107">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906217252850119107</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The standouts for [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] were [player_tooltip player_id='276651' first='Audrey' last='Wang'], Addy O'Brien, Maddie Harrington, Ella Leyte-Vidal, Neirah Hafis, Rubi Gilbert, and Addy Subala.&nbsp; Wang and Hafis were key elements in the Force attack.&nbsp; Wang delivered precise through passes throughout the match.&nbsp; Hitting players in stride and placing them directly at their feet.&nbsp; It was somewhat like a passing clinic on how to make precise long passes to get your team into highly effective scoring range. Audrey was also credited for an assist on the day and she even got goal #3 started by sending a long through ball to Guillebreaux, who got the assist.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906221196074442896">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906221196074442896</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Hafis utilized her speed and technical skills to easily out maneuver her opponents.&nbsp; She has a high soccer IQ and knows exactly when open pockets appear.&nbsp; Her passes are quick and precise and she can create passing combos while on the fly.&nbsp; I really like how she kept a high tempo with a calm feel to her game.&nbsp; She seemed to strive under pressure and played the attacking mid position like upperclassmen did during some of the CCS runs I covered this year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Leyte-Vidal had two goals on the day.&nbsp; With goal #3, the play started with a precise through pass from Wang to Guilebeaux, who one-touched it to Leyte-Vidal for the goal.&nbsp; With goal #4, the combo starts with Wang passing it to Neirah, who passed it back to Wang, who slips it forward to Leyte-Vidal for the goal.&nbsp; Both goals were strong finishes and worthy of a high-light reel.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1907272095253569879">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1907272095253569879</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906811409331261805">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906811409331261805</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>O'Brien scored the opening goal of the match as well as the closing goal of a 6-0 victory by Force. Goal #1 came off of a cross that was flicked upward by a defender. O'Brien fearlessly went in with a strong header to beat the goalkeeper and a defender as her shot went downwards between them. Her second goal was part of a perfect sequence of Harrington passing it to Gilbert, who sent it forward to O'Brien, who maneuvered past 2 defenders before sending it home. Harrington received the ball around the 18, passed it to O'Brien, who passed it back to Harrington for the score. It was a textbook “one-two” passing play to get past defenders. Subala was a starter in that match and played as a defender, while her team almost pulled the upset in that CCS contest. Subala played in both the right back and midfield position in this match and she showed her skills by playing on both ends. She got a few win-backs and made quick and accurate combo passes.
