USE THE PROMO CODE almasin30 for a discount on your first subscription

The MVLA G10 squad took on [program_tooltip program_id='283434' first='Pleasanton' last='Rage'] for the first match of the Fall 2025 ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) season. It was a beautiful day in Pleasanton, CA, and the weather around game time was a warm 76 degrees with a light breeze.

This match featured some of the best players in California as well as in the nation. MVLA had a great run in the national playoffs and was really close to securing a 2nd national championship, as the MVLA Gunners ECNL G09 team won a CHIP. While checking in with the coaching staff prior to the match, I was pleasantly surprised to see Coach Esteban Sosa coaching the G10 team. He was the coach who brought the trophy to the Bay Area and was named ECNL Girls Coach of the Year for the 2024-2025 season. With Sosa at the helm, the sky's the limit with this team.

Season Opener:

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1959718881955881105

At around the 13th minute of the first half, a pass was played back by Rage and [player_tooltip player_id='187366' first='Kiyomi' last='Yoshimura'], the U.S. U-15 player and International Training Camp - Germany Alum jumped the lane and made a run to the box while cutting past a defender before slipping the ball past the goalkeeper for the opening goal. She made it look easy as she effortlessly weaved through the defense and finished with a smooth and calculated shot towards the corner post. Yoshimura was her usual self, setting up her offense by making crisp passes and leading the tempo with the pace of play. Her tactical skills are top-level, and she seemed really locked in, especially in the second half, where MVLA dominated possession.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1960898546301030577

As to make matters worse for the opposition, MVLA's recent addition of [player_tooltip player_id='199887' first='Cassandra' last='Travers'], who goes by “Cassie,” solidified the backline and made it difficult for Rage to take quality shots on goal. Cassie is one of the highest-ranked players in the bunch, as she is the #7 ranked player in the nation, #2 in CA, and #2 in position for the class of 2028. She was also on the same U-15 squad with Yoshimura back in June. With Travers as a center back, the center of the 18 was nearly impossible to get by. She is definitely one of the best defenders out there.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1960902118602367140

Sloane Parenti had a strong game. She showed excellent communication, made quick and precise passes, provided ball possession, and made strong runs in the attacking third. She is a certified scorer and I've covered two other matches in which she scored 2 or more goals, with one match in which she scored 4 of her teams 7 goals. Parenti showed her scoring range today as she received a perfect cross from a set piece and headed the ball down in front of the goalkeeper for a bounce goal.

Sloane Parenti had a strong game. Time after time, I've seen them both keep offenses off the board, and it looks as if they will break more records this year with the least amount of goals scored against during the season. The combination of Travers, Baker, and Garcia will definitely set records on defense. Also, not to keep [player_tooltip player_id='199889' first='Tori' last='Williams'] out of the picture, but she also contributed to the shutout. Williams is another top-level defender and U-15 Chula Vista camp player. She can also be dominant on the defensive end and she is known for some long throw ins with the range to reach the penalty area.

[player_tooltip player_id='199882' first='Vivian' last='Baker'] Highlights:

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1924669034886529481

Another talented MVLA player was Olivia Peters. Throughout the match she provided an offensive spark and nearly found the back of the net on several occasions. Her strength is power shots and running hard into the penalty area. She basically wore down the defense in the second half by providing constant pressure up top, and she opened up lanes for runners making diagonal runs. I've seen her score on multiple occasions, and I'm sure she'll find her rhythm sooner rather than later.

Throughout the match she provided an offensive spark and nearly found the back of the net on several occasions. This game could've gotten away really quick, and they held their ground for most of the first half. MVLA turned up the heat in the second half, and Rage kept fighting off wave after wave of the MVLA runs into the 18-yard box, but they never quit playing. It's also safe to say that this MVLA squad is stacked with talent and we will definitely be seeing some of these players wearing the Red, White, and Blue, with a couple or more playing in the WPSL one day.
