Players You Should Know from the Texas 2029 Girls Rankings

<p>Prep Soccer released its <a href="https://prepsoccer.com/texas/rankings/girls/2029-rankings/">Texas 2029 Girls State Rankings</a> last week, and the list includes over 90 of the most talented prospects in the Lone Star State.</p>   <p>We're spending the week introducing you to some of the most exciting names of the talented class and here are four of them you should know:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">A goalkeeper with [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'], Rodriguez is the top-ranked player in the Class of 2029. A Mexican-American, she's deservedly on the radar of both national and was in a U15 USYNT training camp as recently as last week. Rodriguez played up with Dallas' 15s team in the last ECNL season and was a stud between the posts for them, even playing one age group up. Rodriguez has very firm hands, very rarely spilling the ball or giving up a rebound, and is very athletic and explosive to get to shots on the upper corners. Spatial awareness is another of her strengths as she reads her surroundings very well and is capable of navigating the penalty box very efficiently to get to crosses and to leave her spot and beat opponents for the ball when passes are sent behind her backline.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCfxTvFu5FI/ </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Nordstrom is a skilled attacking player with [program_tooltip program_id='283497' first='Sting' last='Austin'], who was recognized in 11th place in our Rankings. A member of their 15s team in the last ECNL season, she likes to operate centrally, but can play different roles in there, serving either as the focal point of her team's offense at the striker spot or appearing a little deeper and taking part in their chance-creation efforts. Nordstrom is very dangerous when placed near the penalty box because she works very well with her back to the goal, but also thrives at making runs behind the backline to finish chances. When used as a second forward or attacking midfielder, the skills that stand out the most are her ability to drive the ball forward and to shoot from distance.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Lehner is a center back for [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'], who appears in 45th place in our Rankings as of its release. Lehner is not super tall or physical, but does a great job of defending the penalty box by playing with incredible determination and overwhelming opponents with her intensity. She reads plays very well and, on many occasions, makes last-second adjustments in her positioning that place her in the perfect spot to intercept passes or clear crosses. Lehner also does well when dragged higher up on the field, as she keeps opponents under pressure and forces them to play towards their goal. She played most of the last ECNL season with the [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] 15s team, but joined Sting Royal for the Playoffs and is now set to play for [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] after moving to the Houston area. Meehan can play as a central midfielder or higher up in more of an attacking role, and she uses her size very well to win duels and dominate the space. The midfielder, who has been in USYNT ID camps, is very smooth and efficient on the ball, getting into great spots to make plays and distributing the ball with tremendous intelligence.
