5 Midfielders to Know from the Updated Texas 2027 Boys Rankings

After some months, the Prep Soccer 2027 Texas Boys State Ranking was updated earlier this week, with new players being added to the prestigious list that features only the best of the best in the Lone Star State and the existing ones having their positions adjusted. As we continue to move upfield, it's time we know more about the midfielders:    Chamberlain is the second-best midfielder in our Rankings and appears as the eighth-best overall prospect in Texas in his age group. He's a pillar for [program_tooltip program_id='283612' first='Austin' last='FC'] in their U19 team that competes in the MLS Next League. A defensive midfielder, he's very active off the ball, patrolling the center of the field with his high-intensity game and his ability to win duels. Chamberlain is probably even better in possession and one of the things that sets him apart in that category is his ability to operate under pressure, remaining calm and making quick moves to create spaces and leave opponents behind. The midfielder's passing range is exceptional, and he can heavily impact the game with his ability to move the ball in the center of the field, but also find decisive passes in the final third.      Urrutia stands out as the third-best midfield player in Texas and ranks ninth overall in the state. He is part of [program_tooltip program_id='283458' first='San' last='Antonio FC']'s program, playing for their USL Championship team and also with their academy. He's a highly technical and well-rounded attacking player who can perform different roles at a high level for his team. Urrutia is a threat out wide with his ability to beat opponents off the dribble and pace, but can also support the team's attack from a more central role, with his intelligent distribution and impressive passing accuracy. He plays for Bridgeland at the high school level and captains the [program_tooltip program_id='283658' first='Houston' last='Rangers'] U17 team in the MLS Next League. An attacking midfielder, he has excellent technical skills and relies a lot on his high soccer IQ to make a difference in the center of the field, making the right choices when on the ball and executing plays at a high level. A quality passer and strong in 1v1 plays, McHugh also brings a lot of intensity to the game, moving very well off the ball and covering ground when playing defense. A technical and creative attacking midfielder, he has an impressive ability to impact the game offensively with his play. Guerra typically plays more centrally, but he moves very well in the attacking half and helps set up plays in the final third with his vision and dribbling ability. The most interesting aspect of his game, however, is his goalscoring ability, as Guerra often gets into good spots in the penalty box and is an excellent finisher, who uses both feet and his head extremely well to convert chances.   <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DP2OnqsARQd/">Highlights</a>     Davis ranked 17th among the midfielders and 54th overall in the Texas Class of 2027. He's a key player for Bellaire at the high school level and plays club soccer for Rise SC U19 in the ECNL League. A technical and intense central midfielder, he's typically at the heart of everything his teams do on the field, contributing on both sides of the ball. Very skilled on the ball, Davis is very good at progressing it up the field, be it with his accurate passing or with strong runs.
