ECNL Texas Standouts Part 2

It was a hectic weekend at ECNL Texas in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Toyota complex grass fields were deemed unplayable due to weather on days 1 and 2 with games being moved to Beacon Park about 30 minutes Northeast in Melissa, Texas. On day 1 games were first shortened and then ultimately cancelled at around midday due to dangerous weather conditions and lightning in the area. The weather got much better in days 2 and 3 although the wind never really subsided which isn't ideal playing conditions. Over the coming days I will talk about players who stood out at this event and had the scouts talking.    Granger had a strong showing in both games at this showcase. She scored a good goal against [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] on day 3. A well taken bottom corner finish that ended in a 1-1 draw. Her ability to get in behind is impressive she has great timing with her runs and reads the game very well.     Mickens did a great job against a very strong SLSG Navy side. She was able to stifle a handful of threatening attacks and on occasion able to start counters for her Sting side. She has an advantageous physical profile to thrive at the next level and I wouldn't be surprised to see her climb in the rankings soon.     Osborn scored an excellent goal against FC Delco on Day 2 of the showcase. She was very solid defensively and flashed excellent composure on the ball. Her dominance in the air was apparent throughout this game. She attacks the ball as opposed to just letting hit her head which is rare for her age group. She was vital in keeping a clean sheet in this one and scored the games only goal in a 1-0 win.     Very good player who was playing attacking midfield for her FC Delco side against XF Academy. Although no goals were scored for her side, Conboy created numerous dangerous chances that her teammates could not finish. She was fantastic in possession and very slippery in tight spaces to get away from pressure.     She definitely had scouts talking about her on the sideline. Very technically gifted player with an excellent first touch and good tight space dribbling ability. She has great instincts and combines passes at a high clip. Power 4 player.     She was excellent against San Diego Surf on Day 3. Jaw dropping burst of speed, high competitive motor, and plays with no fear. Her goal got her side an early lead and the rest of her play helped increase it as well maintain it in a 2-1 win. She presses the backline very strategically for a 2028 player and when she decides to go its FAST.     She was on my list of players to watch pre tournament and she did not disappoint. Insane finisher even in warm-ups she shows amazing consistency. Her Cruyff is so smooth and isn't just a one time finisher around the box she can create her own shot on the dribble as well. For a 2029 who is quite tall and an early developer physically she shows amazing body control with the ball. She has been with the SD Wave, has a Nike deal already, and repped by a big time Agent in Spencer Wadsworth (Wasserman). The future certainly looks good for this young talent.     The Notre Dame commit was the best ball playing center back at this event. She is so confident and smooth on the ball. Makes excellent decisions in build up and will go on a dribble as well, which you love to see. Shows excellent toughness and grit defensively. Her positioning is outstanding possessing elite IQ.     The San Diego Surf Midfielder was playing in the center of park against a mid block Real Colorado side and handled it incredibly. I thought I had seen it all at these things and then I watched a team at a college showcase set their team up to absorb pressure like it was a playoff game. Spaces become much tighter for a central midfielder and Tovar was very tidy in possession. She created a lot of chances for her teammates that were almost goals.     De Moor was the difference in her game against La Roca on Day 2 of this showcase. She scored both goals in a 2-0 win. The Baylor commit is an excellent finisher and understands where her teammates are going to play her the ball. She has the pace to get on the end of through balls and flashes an excellent first touch under pressure.
