ECNL Southwest – 2010/2011 Standouts from Opening Weekend

The left back was heavily involved in the attack as she seemed to have the ultimate green light to get forward. She seemed to prefer to slot into a slightly more central position than to stay wide on the flank. The right winger was driving the pace of the game with her quick play. She was pushing at the opposition with her immediate recognition to get the ball back in play at every turn. She also picked off some passes with her timely interceptions and deceptive speed. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>She was outstanding in the first half. It felt like Royals did not have an answer for her pace, skill, or attacking instincts. Her activity off the ball to earn touches was remarkable. She was constantly scanning and adjusting her position. She did well connecting from side-to-side as Surf looked to poke holes in the opposition. She burst past a pair of defenders before getting chopped down in the box for the penalty kick. She plays as a forward on the LAFC So Cal 2010/2011 ECNL team. She was at her best in the wild 3-3 draw against Beach FC. She does well using that speed to punish the defense. Her quality is especially dangerous on the counter when she can find chances to be in 1v1 situations. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cole had a chance in the first half when she got on the end of a long ball from Mika Pickup. Her dynamic speed got her into space and draw three defenders to her. The Beach FC forward struck twice in the first half in the draw against LAFC So Cal. She did well with the ball at her feet in using her body to hold off defenders.
