Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
An intelligent and creative attacking player, Simpson can fill many different roles up top for Sting. Very quick and intelligent with her movement in the final third, she can perform at a high level as a striker, making runs in behind the backline to beat physical defenders for the ball. Simpson can also step up a little bit and play as a second forward, using her vision and quality on the ball to connect with the striker in quick combination plays or feed the wingers out wide. Her best spot, however, is probably left winger, as there she can get isolated to beat opponents in 1v1 plays and also bring the ball inside to her preferred right foot to finish chances from outside the box.

A very complete and versatile offensive player, Simpson can play and perform well in any attacking position thanks to her great skill set. Despite not being very big, she can create problems at striker with her pace and movement, but is at her best playing off of a more physical striker or in wide positions. Simpson’s quick thinking always puts her in a position to beat opponents in open play and the fact that she can pass and finish very well with either foot just makes her more difficult to defend. She assisted Chaump in the team’s goal against Solar and also converted her penalty kick attempt.

, and took full advantage of the space created by her teammate to score twice. An excellent finisher, Simpson uses both feet well and has a very high soccer IQ, which she uses to identify and occupy pockets of space on the final third. In the second half, she spent some time playing striker, but continued to move around, dropping back to make combination plays and drifting wide on some occasions. She also did some good work off the ball, putting pressure on defenders.

Simpson leads the line for Sting Dallas Black G08 and she’s not a forward most defenders would like to go up against. She plays much bigger than her actual size and can be an energizer bunny up top, making uncountable runs off the ball and harassing defenders when they have the ball. Simpson is very quick and technical too and she uses those skills extremely well to produce up top. She’s also very direct with the ball, looking for the shortest path to get to a spot from where she can finish. Her movement off the ball is very smart too as Simpson typically comes from the left into the penalty box, always timing her runs very well.

Simpson worked hard to try and help Dallas even the score after Crossfire’s comeback. With great pace and playing aggressively, she made some good runs through the left and the middle and created some problems for her opponents, who often stopped her with fouls. Simpson timed her runs very well and was very direct when she was on the ball. She fought hard to win possession back and to press opposing defenders.
