There are certain things in life that are just more fun when done with people you really like. For some, it is playing sports and many players are fortunate to bond with their teammates and create a bond, or a sisterhood. Sometimes, though, the person you enjoy playing with most is your sibling.

That's the case for Lucy and Adeline Chin. The duo who live in Waxhaw, North Carolina, which is just a little over 30 minutes outside of Charlotte. They love playing the same competitive sport at the same high level. Both play ECNL for Charlotte Soccer Academy. Lucy is a 2009 player while Addie is a 2010.

The two of them really enjoy going after one another, playfully of course, and it is the younger Addie that ends up doing most of the competitive smack talking. Addie typically ends up marking Lucy when the two teams scrimmage each other, which also leads to all sorts of other hijinks.

Lucy has enjoyed growing up with a competitive younger sibling because it provided her so much benefit. The two became close when Lucy was a freshman and Addie was in seventh grade. At that point it was less of a competition, as it became more of a bond, a friendship and the two helping each other get better.

"It helped me because it gave me good competition that I am comfortable making mistakes around," Lucy said. "It also helped that Addie is friends with some of my teammates because whenever my team watched Addie's games either before or after mine, everyone is super encouraging towards Addie and her team."

Lucy sees Addie as a player who is very composed, showing ability to read play at either end of the pitch, and a strong defender with great ability to head the ball.

"I really enjoy having my sister play at the same level as me because she pushes me to do my best instead of me giving up," Addie Chin said. "I play center back and she plays forward, so we can both push each other to be our best. It is a great combination because we both challenge each other in different ways."

Addie also pointed out to the turning point being when she reached seventh grade and Lucy was a freshman when the relationship really started taking off.

She recognizes Lucy's strengths and sees how good of a striker of the ball she is and how excellent her blind side runs are.

Chin is a wonderfully instinctive forward, one who knows where exactly to be at all times. She has a clean and pure strike, one with pace and accuracy as she can bury a shot from distance in the upper V. She shows great understanding of nuance as well, making well-timed runs, but also letting the ball run on the ground until she finds an angle she likes before one-timing a ball home. She has very good speed, flashes plus technical skills to go along with her top notch finishing ability. She is a goal scorer of the highest order.

Chin is a very impressive central defender. For starters, she already has very good size for her age, but moves really fluidly and gracefully. She shows good physicality and toughness in the back, taking on attackers shoulder-to-shoulder and always looking to win the ball. She anticipates well and uses angles to cut attackers off, she steps into passing lanes well and she is very good in the air. Chin is also impressive with the ball at her feet, showing the ability to possess and to play balls that break lines.
