We'll continue to feature the players who impressed us with their games this week, this time in the 08 division, and we start it with the goalkeepers:

Bartell appeared between the posts for the De Anza Force team that got a tie and two losses in the event. I got to watch their 0-1 loss to Sting Black on Saturday, which was probably their best defensive performance and had the goalkeeper as one of the standouts. Bartell used her length extremely well to make plays in goal and inside the penalty box, handling efficiently the shots and crosses that went her way. Despite her size, the goalkeeper also did a good job stopping low shots, getting to the floor very quickly. Bartell displayed great quality and confidence with her feet, doing solid work every time she got on the ball and even making some sophisticated passes out of the back with great accuracy.

Nichols played for the OK Energy FC team that had a perfect campaign in Dallas, returning home with three wins. I watched their final match in the event, a 3-2 victory over Kansas City Athletics on Monday, which was the only match in which she conceded, but where she also came up big, converting the game-winning penalty kick. Nichols was also solid between the posts and made an impressive save in a shot from outside the penalty box in the first half, displaying great reflexes and explosiveness. She was very efficient in possession and communicated well with her teammates, keeping the backline alert.

Brown was with the [program_tooltip program_id='278665' first='Classics' last='Elite'] team that went undefeated over the weekend, producing two wins and a tie. I got to follow their most competitive game, a 1-1 tie with Oregon Surf on Monday, and she responded very well when called to action. She produced two clean sheets over the weekend and also had a strong display in their last match. Despite not being very tall, Brown is very athletic and made multiple saves in the upper corners, using her positioning and explosiveness to get to the ball. She also used her feet well and led the backline with consistent communication.

Rice's Oregon Surf also went undefeated over the weekend, with two wins and one loss. She did a great job in her team's last match, a 1-1 tie with [program_tooltip program_id='278665' first='Classics' last='Elite'] on Monday, in which their opponents controlled possession and fired multiple shots on target - she was only beaten in a set piece, where there wasn't much she could have done. Rice displayed great technical skills between the posts to make stops and was also very intelligent and agile every time she had to leave her spot to catch long passes behind the backline.

Goerish played for the Minnesota Thunder Academy team that got one win, one tie and one loss in Dallas. She skipped the team's first match to appear in the National Selection Game and played the other two. I got to watch her in a 1-0 loss to FC Dallas, when she conceded her only goal, but still had a solid performance. A six-footer, Goerish made some nice saves in the match, using her size well, but also showing impressive reflexes. She was also very effective with her punts, which went well upfield and was extremely accurate.

Flores was one of the goalkeepers of the FC Dallas team that registered two wins and one loss over the weekend. She was very strong for them in their only clean sheet, a 1-0 win over Minnesota Thunder Academy on Monday, in their last match in the event. A goalkeeper of strong reflexes, Flores made some athletic saves, exploding for the ball to keep it out of goal. She was also very quick to leaver her spot when needed and made some critical interventions in the moments where the opponents were dominating the game.
