ECNL G09 – San Juan scores 4 goals to keep playoff hopes alive

With my second match of the day, [program_tooltip program_id='278036' first='San' last='Juan SC'] took on [program_tooltip program_id='283434' first='Pleasanton' last='Rage'] at Val Vista - Field. It was a relatively cool 60 degrees around game time.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>San Juan came in at 3rd place with a record of 15-2-5, and Rage was in 9th place. Both teams played a previous match in October, and San Juan barely won the match at 1-0. The goalkeeping by [player_tooltip player_id='146256' first='Molly' last='McBride'] was also crucial for San Juan to still be in contention for a possible playoff spot. I was impressed by the team chemistry on the San Juan side as their high-pressing offense put up 4 goals. Her first goal was from a slip pass just inside the 18 and one touched it as the goalkeeper came out for a challenge. Her second goal was from a PK. her left footed shot went low left corner. Her third goal came from just outside the 18 from a power shot. She made attacking runs from the wings as well as diagonal runs to the box. She scored Goal #3 for San Juan, by striking a left footed power shot off of the goal keeper's hand just inside the 18. She played up and seemed very comfortable playing at the pace and physicality of this age group. She has a very good first touch and can make quick and decisive passes. Being rated as the second highest keeper in the 2027 class, she always delivers. Making saves at difficult ranges and angles is due to an exceptional athletic ability. She made at least 4 saves on the day. Prior to this match, she and her defense recorded an impressive 12 shutouts.
