ECNL Phoenix Day 3 Standouts

It was by far the coolest day of the 3 today at Reach 11 Sports Complex. Temperatures never going above 70. It was a little on the windy side at times but for the most part excellent conditions to ball. There were definitely some tired legs out there today but overall the level remained high. Here are some names that really stood out to me today.    Gilbert was the talisman for her Missouri Rush side today against Mustang. She scored both goals in a 2-0 win and was impressive throughout the game pressing hard, dribbling past defenders, and winning a tough of aerial duels (scoring on one of them). Definitely one to keep an eye on in the future.     Moyers had an impressive outing against Mustang for her Missouri Rush side. The center back was excellent defensively and really good with her distribution. Her long balls were of particular note as she was able to dump the ball over the oppositions back line on numerous occasions for her strikers to run onto.     Cooper had a phenomenal game against Missouri Rush although in defeat. She is a tenacious defender who won the vast majority of her duels. Her offensive game is one of high energy, direct dribbling, and good off-ball movement. She is excellent in transition and is definitely one to watch moving forward.     The Stanford commit may have the highest IQ I watched all weekend. She reads the game like a 10-year pro and is able to do so because of her command of the ball. Whether its a touch, a pass or a dribble she always seems to know exactly what her next move is. She got a glorious assist today against the Michigan Hawks for her MVLA side on their way to a 2-1 victory.     Shocked not to see this player ranked in Michigan. She is a top player. The midfielder has been impressive all weekend and got an assist on a very well taken corner. She is a gritty defender winning a ton of 50-50's and excellent on the ball combining a ton of passes while also progressing the ball forward on the dribble.     Playing at the 9 Nelson scored two goals against Sporting Blue Valley to help her De Anza side to victory. She might be the most versatile player in the country. You can play her at all 10 outfield positions and she would do an excellent job. Shows what kind of mentality and athlete she is. The Cal Bears have an amazing young talent coming into the fold in 2027.     In her last game playing for De Anza before she heads out to Alabama in January Rogers played exceptionally well. Her last touch was an excellent assist with a ball in behind to [player_tooltip player_id='82617' first='Fiona' last='McCormick'] who rounded the goalie and finished neatly. Not a bad way to end your club career.     I was really impressed with Kumer's [program_tooltip program_id='283405' first='Marin' last='FC'] 2009 side. They were well drilled and had talent all over the field. She is definitely the leader and tone setter. Playing out of position at center back today she didn't look out of sorts at all. She reads the game very well and is great in possession.     I was impressed with Scanlon's communication skills. She really knows how to position her back line in order to set them up for success. Her distribution is good and she made every save she needed to make. Definitely a division 1 talent. She played a massive role in maintaining a shutout for her [program_tooltip program_id='283405' first='Marin' last='FC'] side in their 1-0 win over Concorde.     Mbuvi athletic gifts are easy to see. She's tall, fast and covers a ton of ground. She has a good foundation technically and has an excellent work ethic. She will have a ton of programs interested in her services during recruitment.     Big time players make big time plays and Williams did that on both ends of the field today. One minute she's making a goal saving block, the next she's rising over defenders to score a header to put her MVLA side in the lead against the defending national champions Michigan Hawks. Williams is going to have some of the top schools in the country coming after her come June 15th. She has everything that a modern day center back needs to thrive at the next level.     This 2010 MVLA team is almost unfair. In the heart of their defense they have Thea Perry, [player_tooltip player_id='199889' first='Tori' last='Williams'] and Travers whom are 3 of the top 10 defensive players in the whole country at their age if you ask me. They blanked the defending national champions Michigan Hawks today and Travers also showed off her long throw that can be like a corner at times. I think this may have been a 2026 ECNL National Championship preview that MVLA now has the upper hand in.     Miller continues to impress. Our #1 ranked player nationally was at it again today against a very good Michigan Hawks 09 group. Her ability to not only destroy opposition attacks but to create opportunities for her side offensively never gets old to watch. She is so clean and tidy in possession and her long balls always seem to find one of her teammates.     Fedulchak played really well against the defending national champions MVLA today in a hard fought 0-0 draw. She was up and down the right wing making plays offensively, defensively and in transition. She is an excellent 1 v 1 player never shying away from a duel. Really physical and hard in the tackle she's a wingers worst nightmare.     A heavyweight battle between Slammers HBK and XF Academy saw Slammers come out on top 2-0 and Churchill played a big part in that. She scored a very well taken goal with her left foot and orchestrated so many positive attacks for her side. She's so calm and creative on the ball making defenders miss on the dribble as well as fitting passes into the tightest of windows. One of my absolute favorite players to watch, she never disappoints.     If Churchill is the creativity and flair Stearns is the gritty muscle. She won so many defensive duels shutting down XF's attack time after time. Very reliable in possession and a force of nature in the tackle. Stearns is headed to the University of Washington and I think the playing style fits her perfectly.     Of all the players I evaluated today Dern had the best performance. She scored a game winner and provided two assists to help her side win 3-2 against a powerhouse Slammers HBK 2010 side. After going a goal down early the Real Colorado captain dragged her team back in the game. Her Real Colorado side is a contender to win it all this year.     The other captain for this Real Colorado side Marlow had an impressive performance. Playing against what might be the best midfield in the 2010 age group Marlow actually seemed to get the better of them. Her tenacious ball winning ability, touch and vision helped her side tremendously on their way to victory.     Bursey has a very advantageous athletic profile. She's tall, fast and has excellent body control. She scored a banger to put her team up 2-1. She received a pass from Julia Dern just inside the 18 turned with her back to goal and without even looking smacked off the post and into the net. College coaches are going to be all over her come June 15th.     In the last kick off of the day I wandered around the fields and I ended up staying to watch Eguchi for a long time. Her touch is absolutely sublime. She can take the sting out of the ball with incredible precision. Excellent close control on the dribble as well. Seems like a late developer with a very bright future. I wouldn't be surprised if I see her talked about more in the next couple of years.
