Standout Eastern and Western NC Class of 2028 Midfielders

<p>Eastern and western North Carolina have very talented midfielders in the class of 2028. Because of the higher population and facilities, the eastern region has more depth to look at. However, this does not mean that the western midfielders fall behind.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Boys </h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Harrison is a natural game changer who can play anywhere in midfield. As a defensive midfielder, he imposes himself tremendously. Every duel he goes into is done with the full intention to come out on top. His tackles are strong and precise, including when he needs to go to ground. Offensively, he makes plays happen. His agility, especially in tight spaces, allows him to leave defenders behind and opens space for himself. The passes he picks out are phenomenal, mostly high up in the final third. Typically, he operates centrally or in half spaces, but he can also play passes from out wide. His shooting is also fantastic. Because of where he plays on the pitch, he shoots from distance. These shots are spectacular and incredibly difficult for goalkeepers to deal with.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Gates is a defensive midfielder who can also play as a right back and has the qualities to play as a center back as well. He's an intelligent player with good tactical understanding. Wherever he's deployed, he responds the way he's meant to. He can overlap or interiorize as a right back. His positioning is pinpoint wherever he plays. He remains composed under pressure, making the correct choice without hassle.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Girls</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Virginia is a talented and complete central midfielder. Playing in the second-third of the pitch for most of the match, she has all the qualities needed to thrive there. She is great at anticipating passes in midfield, recovering the ball constantly. When she goes in to recover the ball, she uses her body intelligently to avoid needing to tackle as much as possible. After recovering the ball, she opens up space for herself with subtlety. Dropping the shoulder or using skills leaves her in space to play progressive passes. Her ground passes are very effective. This is especially seen with her incisive through balls. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Riley is a talented and very active attacking midfielder who can also play as a winger. She moves in the final third with a lot of liberty, which allows her to make her team more fluid in attack. Wherever she finds space, she'll move there to get the ball. Here, she looks to quickly play the ball to get her team forward effectively. She can turn on her axis easily to leave her in a position to progress the ball herself. She is also able to dribble out wide to open the play and open passing lanes to play the ball into. Even her back passes are played with the intention to progress play. If the play is slower, she helps circulate the ball in the final third.</p>
