Staats joined Solar this season and immediately became a key piece for them in midfield – she can also play on the backline. A player with USYNT pedigree, she has the intensity level and the quality to dominate the game from her central midfield position and does it very consistently. Staats is very active defensively, not only covering a lot of ground but also stopping opponents with well-timed tackles. She is also brilliant with the ball, igniting quick transition plays right after she wins possession and getting into the final third to finish chances. Because of how well she uses both feet to pass and finish and how intelligent she is with her decision-making, Staats can be very difficult to stop when in attack mode.

Addi Staats is a midfielder on the US Youth National Team and Solar SC 2010 ECNL. She is a new addition to the Solar squad. I could see her filling in a variety of roles for her new club. I could also seeing her stock skyrocketing with a stellar season for Solar. For Dallas Texans, she played as a defensive midfielder during the ECNL playoffs. She was a dominant presence in the center of the field – almost to the extent that she was playing more as a No. 8 and doing the work all over the field. Sharp in the tackle, quick in transition, and decisive in her movement, Staats showed she is clearly a top player in this class.
