Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Barrett led the line for Solar SC G10 in their 6-0 win over FC Dallas White RL NTX G09 in the U17 Division. The focal point of her team’s offense, she had a hat-trick and excelled in every aspect of the game at the striker position. Despite the difficulties in tracking the ball down in long passes due to the windy conditions, Barrett managed to get to the end of many of them, working very well with her back to the goal. The forward also made well-time behind the backline, drifted wide and moved closer to her teammates to combine, offering options every time Solar had the ball in the final third. Barrett was excellent with her positioning inside the box, too, getting to the end of many crosses.

One of the many talented offensive players on the team, Barrett delivers excellent production and a high-energy game in the final third. She’s probably at her best when used in the striker role because of how well she works with her back to the goal and how she gets to facilitate plays in the final third. Barrett sees the game very well and is very smart with her touches in the attacking half, often dismantling backlines with quick passes. Also an excellent finisher, she’s a modern forward who puts a lot of effort into pressing defenders and forcing them into making errors.

Barrett is an attacking piece of the Solar SC 10 team that will play against Bethesda SC, FL Premier FC and GSA this week in Dallas. She has the complete package to play as a striker, meaning that she works very well with her back to the goal or facing it. Barrett’s linkup play is excellent and, even when surrounded by multiple defenders, she can still get the ball to a teammate. The forward has a strong presence inside the penalty box and is a great finisher, but can also step outside of it on the wings to get on the ball and make plays. Another key aspect of Barrett’s game is her ability to press opposing defenders and either gain possession in very dangerous spots or force them into errors.

Barrett is what you like to see out of a forward because of how tenacious she is with or without the ball. She likes to pressure high and can force defenders into poor decisions or mistakes. She’s very fundamental on the offensive end, showing really good touch and the ability to control the ball when it is at her feet. She plays a good ball out wide and she combines well with her No. 10 or her wide forwards or she can just carry the ball down the pitch and go right at a defender.

Energy and effort defined the attitude from Barrett on the final day of the event. The Solar forward was committed to seeing her team end the trip to San Diego with a victory. She created chances with her pressure and nonstop effort plays. She also created chances with her skill. She wasn’t afraid to bring the ball down and showcase her first touch even when playing with multiple defenders on her back. Barrett created chances with her link up play too. It was a stellar showing from the forward.
