Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Jordan’s senior forward was certainly the most influential player on the field, having direct participation in both of his team’s goals. It was a night of tough battles for Erol, who was isolated up top at times and had to fight multiple Seven Lakes defenders as his team tried to hit them on the counter. He tried a little bit of everything, spending some time out wide and most of the second half in more of a central position and, despite the difficulties, he still managed to create chances. Erol moved very well to find the ball in the team’s first goal and hit a great shot in the play that generated the second. He also displayed great effort on the field and positively influenced his teammates.

The Warriors’ number nine, Erol is a nightmare to opposing defenders because of his quality on the ball and his work rate. He’s great with his off-the-ball movement and has a knack for finding spaces in the backline to explore, but doesn’t shy away from physical duels and does a solid job with his back to the goal. Erol can also be used a little bit deeper, as a second forward or even an attacking midfielder, thanks to his ability to combine with his teammates and push the ball forward through the middle. An excellent finisher and header, he also brings value with his ability to put pressure on opposing defenders and force them to make errors.

HTX’s striker had a slow start to the match and didn’t manage to create many chances when he was on the field in the first half. He was subbed off and then came back in during the second half, playing a much more active role in the team’s offense. Erol used his quickness of thought to work with his back to the goal and facilitate plays for his teammates. He had two good chances to score inside the penalty box and converted one, hitting the upper corner with a powerful shot.

Erol helped his team HTX 07 get a third-place finish in the Texas Conference with 11 wins, three losses and two ties – they will play San Diego Surf, NVA and CESA Triumph in the Champions League playoffs. He’s very smart with how he operates inside the penalty box, often getting into good spots to finish chances and score. Erol can also work as a chance-creator for his team, either performing intelligent holdup play and operating with his back to the goal or dropping back and playing underneath a striker. The forward does solid defensive work too, playing with good energy and putting pressure on opposing defenders when they have the ball.

Erol played forward for his HTX team and helped them get two wins and a loss over the weekend in Round Rock. An excellent finisher, he used his great positioning inside the penalty box to get into good spots to score. Erol also displayed great quality when playing with his back to the goal, connecting with his teammates with one-touch passes and helping create chances. He also spent some time playing the No. 10 role and was very dangerous with his runs and passes behind the backline. Erol also played with great energy on defense, putting pressure on defenders and forcing them to play long.

The dynamic Erol didn’t get as much service as he’s used to, but he didn’t just hang around the penalty box waiting for it. His movement was very intense and intelligent without the ball and he kept trying to find solutions and make things happen up top. Erol had some success getting on the end of long passes on the left side of the team’s attack and created good chances with his vision and passing, but didn’t get a good chance to finish.
