Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Rossetti plays for the Houston Dynamo U16 team in the MLS Next League. He’s the top-ranked goalkeeper in the class and ranks 14th overall. Tall and quick with his movement, he’s very agile and reliable between the posts, handling shots with confidence and efficiency. Rossetti has become more effective at claiming crosses inside the box and is very hard to score in 1v1 situations because of how well he times his movement forward and uses his arms and legs to expand his range. The goalkeeper has recently made great strides in his possession game, too, spending more time on the ball and moving it quickly and efficiently out of the back.

Rossetti will appear with the Houston Dynamo in their U17 Homegrown Division matches against the Columbus Crew, CF Montreal and Sporting Kansas City in Arizona. Recognized as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Texas, he has been making solid progress in different areas of his game over the last year or so, developing into more of a difference-maker between the posts. Very long and explosive, Rossetti is very difficult to score against because of how much area he can cover by stretching his arms and intelligently using his legs. The goalkeeper also stands out for his ability to quickly get the ball to his teammates after making saves, finding them in the attacking half with accurate throws or long passes, and setting up dangerous transition plays.

Recently recovered from injury, Rossetti is a highly technical and reliable goalkeeper who is among the best in his age group in Texas, having appeared in US Soccer talent ID camps. He stands at around 6’2″ and is excellent at using his long arms to make stops in close-distance shots, displaying impressive reflexes. The goalkeeper also does a great job of taking up space from opponents in 1v1 plays, quickly leaving the goal and stretching his long arms to limit their possibilities. One area of the game in which Rossetti is probably above most goalkeepers is his ability to quickly and efficiently put the ball back in play after making a save, as he often finds teammates in the attacking half with long throws or accurate passes, quick-starting transition plays.

Rossetti played the first half of the match and left the field with a clean sheet. The Rangers didn’t demand a lot from him while he was on the field, but the goalkeeper was very reliable when dealing with the shots and crosses that went his way. Rossetti was far more impressive with his ability to connect long passes out of the back and initiate quick transition plays after he made a save, finding teammates in good wide spots. The goalkeeper also used his feet well and was very calm and efficient with his passing, even when the Rangers tried to put pressure on him.
