The senior led Jordan’s backline with her high-level game and helped them start the playoffs with a clean sheet. With her team dominating possession, Katz was mostly called to action in transition plays, showing excellent positioning and good pace to shut down Foster’s attempts to play long and hit on the counter. The defender also did very well on the ball, moving it efficiently after making stops and breaking lines with her passing when the Warriors tried to build out of the back. Katz also did well in set pieces, providing great service from long range and forcing Foster’s goalkeeper into a big save on a free kick shot in the first half.

The junior started the match at left back, but with less than ten minutes was moved to the right to contain Seven Lakes’ forward Bridget Asekomhe. The change was pretty effective as Katz won the first few duels and settled well in the new spot. She used her physicality extremely well and had a fun battle with Asekomhe, winning most of the duels and doing a good job of keeping her out of the penalty box most of the time. Katz also pushed forward constantly, overlapping very well and engaging in combination plays with her teammates.

Katz and her HTX 07/06 team will be in action in the Champions Cup, where they will play IMG Academy, Beadling SC and Utah Celtic. HTX have many options at center back, but Katz is probably the most well-rounded of them, excelling in several areas of the game. A track and field student-athlete, she’s extremely athletic and can handle both pacey wingers and physical strikers efficiently. She plays aggressively to regain possession and is very quick to cover space. Because of her quality on the ball and her ability to attack the penalty box, Katz can also be used a little higher up on the field in midfield, helping the team’s distribution.

Katz is a defender on the HTX GA 07 team. She can play center back or outside back. She is a terrific on-ball defender. She is sharp in the timing of her tackle and smart about using her body to control the duel. Katz’s strength is her passing as well. She has excellent vision and does well in picking the pass to split the lines and find the feet of her teammates. She is a multi-sport athlete and looks to be having a terrific cross country season as a junior based on race results. The carryover from that sport to the field should be obvious during showcase events in the fall and winter.
