Choate plays for the Houston Dynamo U16 team in the MLS Next League. He is listed as the second-best forward in the state and the seventh most promising prospect overall. A high-energy, well-rounded attacking player, he can be used anywhere in the attack and is extremely consistent with his performances. Choate has been mostly used centrally in a two-forward system this season, showing great ability to work off his teammates to create chances and impressive finishing skills to convert them. He can also play out wide, where he uses his pace to attack the space behind the backline and his ability to deliver accurate crosses. On either spot, he contributes a lot defensively, too, be it by pressing opposing defenders or tracking back.

Involved in three of the four Dynamo goals, Choate was the team’s top offensive player against GFI. He split his time playing more centrally and on the right and was excellent at understanding how to attack the space available in the final third, combining well with his teammates and making plays. Choate crowned an excellent attacking performance with a beautiful goal, showing impressive precision with his shot. After spending the first half at the striker role, Choate moved to the wing in the second half and was a big part of the Dynamo’s offense. He scored the game-winner in a beautiful play, in which he showed patience to cut the ball inside and tremendous quality to send it into the upper corner with a well-placed shot. The forward step time on both flanks was very dangerous in 1v1 plays, beating defenders to create chances. He also came inside to combine with his teammates and had a dangerous shot and an excellent final pass inside the box that his team couldn’t capitalize on.

An extremely versatile and intelligent attacking player, Choate can play many different roles in the Dynamo’s offense. He’s mostly used as a center forward, a position that strongly favors his ability to finish chances thanks to his calm and quality in front of the goal. A very dynamic player, Choate can also play on the wings, using his pace and intelligence to beat defenders 1v1 and attack the space out wide. He can also help set up plays from a more central role, using his vision to find teammates in great spots, while timing his passes well. Choate is a very humble player, who, despite producing great offensive numbers, will play whatever position he’s asked for with impressive determination and commitment.

, much of what they created against Minnesota came from the wings and Choate had a big role in it. Playing on the right, as a wingback, he was very intense offensively, going at defenders and sending good crosses into the penalty box, like the one that found Nzitas to score the team’s first goal. Choate spent limited time playing as a striker and needed only one opportunity to score, finishing a cross with a firm, well-placed shot. He displayed great versatility, also playing some left wingback for the Dynamo and kept the level high everywhere he played. Besides his offensive contributions, Choate also worked hard off the ball, dropping back and playing with great energy on defense.

Choate will play with the Houston Dynamo U15 team that will face the Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake and Strikers FC. He’s a very complete and well-rounded forward, who can play many different roles offensively for his team. Choate is physical and intelligent enough to play more centrally, with this back to the goal, and facilitate plays, while also having a good presence inside the penalty box. He’s also skilled and athletic enough to cause damage from the wings, using his dribbling to beat defenders and bringing the ball inside to finish or assist.

The forward played a big role in the Dynamo’s victory, scoring the team’s first goal and being involved in the other three. Playing as a winger, Choate was very active and aggressive on the ball, going at defenders and creating chance after chance with his runs. He played on the right in the first half and moved to the left in the second, where he was even more dangerous by bringing the ball inside to his preferred right foot to finish and combine with his teammates. Choate had many good chances and should probably have scored another one, but he was blocked by the Rangers’ backline on some occasions and saw his shots go just a few inches wide on others.
