About Alyssa

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have a high understanding for seeing the entire field as a Centre Back or Defensive Back. I am unique in the fact that I will often push the ball up the field and be in scoring range even as a CB. I have a strong left foot and have scored several goals even as a CB. I love heading the ball into the goal on corner kicks. I am aggressive and I go to the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a highly motivated athlete that plays hard and doesn't gives up. Having this determination and good work ethic makes me a leader on the soccer field and off. I don't give up when things get tough on the field or in the classroom.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I enjoy volunteering my time at Grace Bridge, where I pack meat to prepare for our weekend distribution. In addition, I volunteer at Bedstart, in which we move furniture from houses and give furniture to individuals that need it and help them set up their home. Also, I babysit and dog sit around my neighborhood community. I enjoy giving back to my community and believe it is important to volunteer

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I believe it is important to be a team player. Being able to talk to teammates and listen to them and their feedback is important. Having good communication with the team is important. There are times players will come to me just to vent or ask questions because they know I am a good listener and always find the positive in every situation.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I have tried out for the ECNL league several times and each time I did not get accepted, I trained harder the next year, and the next year until finally a team gave me a spot. Once on the team, I worked hard on the field at practice and off to secure my position. Just because I made the team didn't mean that I could work any less, it made me work even harder.

What type of college are you looking for?

My name is Alyssa Gipson, and I am interested playing competitive soccer in college. My goal is to pursue a degree in Business/Technology.

She has good composure on the ball. She can break pressure with her passing or ability to progress the ball off the dribble. Gipson is a target on set pieces with her aerial duel prowess. She is a strong defender who has been impressive against the top teams in Texas.
