Expert Analysis

Although her main position is that of a center back, she played box-to-box and made occasional strong runs into the attacking third. Ana is great at calculating risk and rewards while leading counterattacks from the defensive line.
Her ability to find soft spots in the defense allows her team to get into scoring positions and create diagonal runs to the box. Her leadership on defense is also a big part of their success. She’s definitely on pace as a rankings riser.

It is great to see Ana in the attacking third, as I’ve only previously evaluated her on the defensive end. Ana led the backline and was great at counterattacks. Her top-level talent and skill sets are what college scouts look for. Ana is taking on a leadership role, and I look forward to seeing how far this team can go. At every match I’ve evaluated her, she never disappoints and plays a consistent and steady. Hoping she will have an opportunity to get a USYNT invite, as her recent progression definitely indicates that she is ready to make that jump.

She was part of a stacked team which went 19-2-2 overall and 1st place in league play. The Dragons were ranked #42 in CA and #143 in the nation. As a freshman starter, Ana played a pivotal role in the defensive backline. They had a good run at a section title, but weren’t able to get it done and lost the match by the slimmest of margins. They also got past the first round of the NorCal tournament, but lost in a PK shootout to Archbishop Mitty who made it to the final. I’ve evaluated her at the ECNL level and she has the ability to play at a top Division I program. Her high soccer IQ and ability to read the attack are her strengths on the defensive side. I’m sure that Ana and her team is looking forward to getting the title which slipped away and making a longer run in the NorCal tournament.

Tough, scrappy defender who is an exceptional dribbler out of the back. She loves to get forward and get crosses in from her outside back position and plays great through balls in behind the opposition’s defense. Top competitor and isn’t scared of anybody. If you hear a big boom from the field she is playing on it’s probably Pintard going into a tackle.

She took charge of the defensive line. Her ability to make precise long passes put her offense into scoring range, and her calm and composed presence made it difficult for Force to add more scores. She isn’t afraid to play a physical style of soccer, but her technical skills are some of the best for a defender. If needed, she can play up to give her team additional firepower, but in this match it didn’t seem as if it was a priority. In other words, I believe they were already locked in for a playoff spot.

Another freshmen standout for the Dragons. The future is certainly bright for this team. I was told she was very sick last week and did not have time to train much. It did not show one bit. She played the whole game at center back in a back three and put her body on the line on numerous occasions. She loves a 50-50 ball and had a handful of crunching challenges. Her distribution was great and she is so good at dribbling into midfield if there isn’t an option to pass right away. Big fan.

For the first time in her entire career Ana did not do a Maradonna which was disappointing because it is always a crowd pleaser. Other than that the freshmen was brilliant against Berkeley. Winning her aerial and ground duels at a very high success rate. She can spray the ball around the field and finds gaps in the oppositions defense very well. When she dribbles into space from center back she always looks dangerous to make a positive play. Was playing the Center back in a back 3 and showed incredible discipline and maturity for a freshmen holding her position.
