Expert Analysis
JR Eskilson | Prep Soccer Scout
Wong had an excellent game against LAFC So Cal. She can play center back or in the midfield. Her ability to defend in open space is among the elite defensive midfielders in the 2010 age group. She also shows good instincts in possession in her movement off the ball. She is active in showing for the ball as an option.
Wong’s versatility is certainly a huge asset, but her competitiveness was a major reason why for Mustang’s success in Phoenix.

Loves a tackle and physical battle. Wong is one of the best defensive players in California. She’s an excellent destroyer of opposition’s play and covers a ton of ground. Very underrated player whom you want on your side if you are protecting a lead.

Wong was very disruptive defensively for the Michigan Hawks to deal with. The wind really picked up during this game and made the game very hectic which is actually great for a player like Wong. She wins so many 50-50 battles. Her duels won percentage must have been very high today.

O’Dowd’s most important player in this game if you ask me Wong was an absolute beast last night playing defensive midfield for the Dragons. She covered a ton of ground, was making a ton of tackles, winning headers and matching her taller more physical opposition. Offensively she was excellent at completing passes and keeping the ball. She won the foul leading to Olson’s goal and had the game winning assist to top it all off. This freshmen has a very bright future indeed.

Keeping this MVLA team scoreless is no easy feat as they have already scored 60 goals this season.

‘s play had a lot to do with why it was a hard fought 0-0 game. She was everywhere defensively with a ton of well timed challenges and interceptions to frustrate the MVLA attackers. Mustang is now the only team to prevent MVLA from winning so far this season.

Mustang left the event without suffering a loss, but came up short of a trip to Richmond due to a penalty kick loss to MVLA in the Round of 16. Wong was one of those defenders who seemed like she could do it all. A lockdown defender who also looked comfortable on the ball and broke pressure on the dribble, she offers a lot of traits that scouts look for in modern defenders.
