Playing for DKSC 08, Gilbert will be a source of concern for their opponents Minnesota Thunder, Charlotte SA and Arlington Soccer this weekend. A key piece in Wakeland’s victory at the State Tournament a couple of months ago, when she was awarded as the MVP, she’s one of DKSC’s main offensive options. Because she’s so well-rounded and does everything at a very good level, it’s hard to define Gilbert’s game, but one thing is for sure: she’s always ready to score. The forward operates very well around the penalty box, making runs off-the-ball and engaging in combination plays, but is far more lethal closer to goal, benefiting from her excellent positioning to finish chances.

She was an 1st Team All-State selection and the MVP for the 5A State Championship game as a sophomore. She is a high-level prospect. She is exceptional in many facets of the game for a center forward. She doesn’t overwhelm in any one area, but does a bunch of things really well. The lasting trait for me is her singular focus. She wants to score goals – and score as many as possible. Gilbert’s play in the past year should get the attention of all the big programs in the country.

The sophomore forward was absolutely pivotal in Wakeland’s title, operating as the team’s offensive piece over the weekend in Georgetown, as was the case during the entire season. Gilbert was active in the semifinal against Rouse, firing a shot into the crossbar, but couldn’t break the deadlock and avoid the scoreless tie that took the match to PKs. She saved the best for the Championship Game, getting a brace with a header and a powerful shot to the upper corner that paved the way for her team’s victory. Gilbert was awarded as the MVP of the match.

The dangerous Gilbert will lead the line for DKSC G08 ECNL in the event. She’s a complete forward, who can hurt opponents in a variety of ways and is always very efficient in the final third. Gilbert moves very well with and without the ball and that puts her in a position to make plays. She can play behind a true striker, dropping deeper to get the ball and make runs through the middle, or stay up top, using her positioning to get on the end of crosses and passes inside the penalty box. Gilbert also passes, dribbles and finishes well with either feet.
