One of the more dominant forwards on the pitch during the ECNL National Championship matches was Layla. She was a problem in and around the box, taking on two to three defenders at a time while still keeping possession. Her size and strength set her apart from her peers and her relentless attacking mindset set FC Dallas Youth ECNL up for a late goal to secure the ECNL National Championship. If you’re going to make the Best XI as a forward, you better believe you can score clutch goals. Layla did just that. Iglesias is committed to USC where she is destined for great things and should help the Trojans with their continued successes. Keep an eye on this one.

Iglesias was the driving force behind the 09s’ advance to the national championship game. Notably, she scored both goals that made the difference. Her determination was evident as she battled for every ball throughout the match. In particular, she won a crucial 50/50 challenge and turned minimal space into a scoring opportunity. When the moment came, Iglesias wasted no time. As a result, she faced the net with confidence and took her chance without hesitation. Furthermore, her ability to capitalize under pressure and her relentless work rate set the tone for her team’s semifinal victory.

Iglesias and her FC Dallas G09 team qualified for the Champions League and will have Virginia’s Richmond United in their way in their first match in the event. Combining excellent technical and physical skills, she’s a handful for opponents to deal with, being capable of playing different roles in the attack at a very high level. Iglesias can be used on the wings, where she uses her dribbling ability and pace to beat defenders and create chances for teammates and herself. She can also operate more centrally, showing good quality to drop deeper and facilitate plays with her excellent passing, while also doing a great job of getting to the end of crosses to score.

This girl is a problem. Excellent burst of speed with and without the ball. Very strong technically and seems to weave through traffic with ease at times. Had two excellent assists against the defending national champions MVLA today in a big 3-0 win.

Iglesias played a few different attacking roles for FC Dallas during the match and was the team’s most dangerous player on the field. She started the match on the wing and was very strong in 1v1 plays out wide, but also thrived when bringing the ball inside to create plays with her passing. The forward also occupied more of a central position in the team’s offense and appeared well working with her back to the goal and facilitating combination plays. Igleasias pursued a goal during the entire match and had a couple of good opportunities to score, but was blocked by Albion’s defenders.
