Recently committed to Florida State. Micayla Johnson Micayla Johnson F #1 Nation MI made lots of dangerous plays in the Hawks ECNL matchup vs United Futbol Academy. Her ability to out-dribble opponents in the attacking third was exceptional. At least 5-6 successful dribble attempts in that game. Johnson’s best play was probably when she out-dribbled two defenders for a shot to the bottom-right corner of the net, which was eventually rebounded by her teammate into the net. Part of a dominant 4-0 win.

Johnson is one of the players who makes the game look easy. Her performance in the Girls Academy Champions Cup recently had just about everyone raving – well except the opposition. She is the rare prospect that can take over the game in the biggest moments. There is part of her game that reminds me of

– the creativity, the mastery of the ball – and there is another part that screams of Kat Rader – the finishes from impossible angles, the way she strikes the ball like she is mad at it. Johnson’s ceiling is as high as they come in this age group.

Johnson is a member of the U.S. U15 Youth National Team, which gives quite a bit of credibility to her ranking as the top prospect from the state. Johnson, as far as I can tell, does not have a highlight reel available at this time, but if she did it would be 10 minutes long. The Nationals star regularly makes big-time plays in games. She is a forward/attacking midfielder. She is right-footed. She likes to get on the ball often as she always showing for the pass. When on the ball, she is quick to make decisions. She has the quality to turn and face goal when she doesn’t feel pressure on her back. She is good at using her body when there is a defender touch-tight. When she breaks free, she has all of the tools in the attacking third to be either a provider or a finisher. Johnson has the potential to be the top player in the country in this class.
