About Sophie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I leverage my height to make catching saves (when possible) that might usually be a tip or a punch. I'm aggressive off my line and not afraid to make a 1v1 save. Strong communication and defensive organization play an important role in my game and ultimately aid in shot prevention. I have really worked on my footwork and distribution so I can contribute to possession and offensive opportunities.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

As a goalkeeper I've thrived because of my ability to be resilient, determined, a hard worker, and competitive. I've also learned the importance of motivation for myself and my teammates. I'm a better goalkeeper when I find ways to motivate myself and my teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Since 7th grade, I've been a member of National Charity League which has allowed me to serve at many local philanthropies along with developing leadership skills by serving on committees. This past year I volunteered over 50 hours and was awarded the Presidential Service Award. I was also nominated to be a part of HOPE squad which is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program at my high school..

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Competing as a goalkeeper has strengthened my composure, leadership abilities, and communication skills, which I apply to all aspects of my life including sports, academics, and giving back to my community.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a program where I can make an impact but where there is also the support to continue to develop as a goalkeeper. I thrive in an environment where I feel supported and yet challenged. Ultimately, I am hoping to find a program that shares my drive and values and will become a second home for me to continue to develop academically and as a goalkeeper.
