The regular season of the University Interscholastic League (UIL) high school soccer season is almost completed in Texas and just a few spots in the State Tournament, in April, are still up for grabs. After a slow week, with several regions of the Lone Star State having their spring back, action will resume around Texas in the next few days.

Prep Soccer has been following the action closely, covering multiple matches every week and reporting on the players having big roles with their teams and helping them succeed. As part of our coverage, we will also preview some matches we believe have the potential to be highly exciting and here is our pick for Tuesday, March 19:

Seven Lakes vs. Katy - 7:15 @ Seven Lakes HS

Seven Lakes

The Spartans are currently in first place in District 19, with 11 wins, two losses and one tie, and depend only on their efforts to secure the district title. Seven Lakes have been in great form lately, having won their last five matches while outscoring their opponents by 12-1. Their season record stands at 13-3-3.

The defense has been a strength for the Spartans, who have senior Valarie Trinh and junior Olivia Orellana keeping things tight at center back while senior Sydney Hill and junior [player_tooltip player_id='54871' first='Kennedy' last='Reed'] provide great energy and contribute on both sides of the ball at outside back. Junior Chloe Callahan and senior [player_tooltip player_id='27328' first='Wagoner' last='Towsen'] are the soul of the team's midfield - the former brings a lot of energy to cover ground while the latter is a skilled playmaker, who makes things happen. Sophomore Anuhea Aalona has been the Spartans' main attacker, bringing dynamism and quality on the ball as a striker or in the wings.

https://x.com/SLGirlsSoccer7/status/1753435348875780229?s=20

Katy

The Lady Tigers are having one of the best campaigns in program history and continue firmly in the mix for the district title - they are third right now, with ten wins, two losses and two ties. A victory over the Spartans would be pivotal for their plans and would extend Katy's current unbeaten streak to nine matches - they have six wins and two ties, with 28 goals scored and four conceded in the period. The team has a 15-3-2 win record for the season.

Sophomore Lilah Schroeder has been really good for Katy between the posts. The Lady Tigers also have great quality in the backline, which is anchored by senior [player_tooltip player_id='26769' first='Hannah' last='Phillips'] at center back and counts on the energy of freshman [player_tooltip player_id='159756' first='Kailey' last='St. John'] at right back. Their midfield junior trio has been in great form too, with [player_tooltip player_id='26425' first='Aliah' last='Stevens'] and Chaila Ruiz bringing the energy and defensive coverage and [player_tooltip player_id='138565' first='Kendall' last='Gussert'] leading their chance creation. Katy have two of the most talented and lethal forwards in the district in junior [player_tooltip player_id='158988' first='Atiana' last='Lara'] and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='148485' first='Baylee' last='Corcoran'].

https://x.com/i10shootout/status/1746245482362310692?s=20
