The junior spent time on both outside back spots and had a solid performance for the Lady Tigers. St. John did very well defensively, winning most of her duels and closing out the space in her zone, and, coincidentally or not, all three goals her team conceded happened either on the opposite side of the backline or when she wasn’t on the field. The outside back also played well on the ball, making good moves to keep possession, connecting good passes and sending accurate crosses into the box when she stepped into the attacking half.

Headed to South Carolina State St John is an excellent find for the Bulldogs. A top 50 defender out of Texas who looks under ranked after watching her film. She’s a versatile outside back and is exceptional in the air for such a small player. I think she’s a Power 4 talent.

St. John will play for Katy, the hosts of the Tiger Bracket, and will be with the team in their first match, against Clear Lake. A right-footed outside back, she can play on both sides with the same efficiency. St. John offers a lot offensively, using her pace to create chances out wide and her ability to combine and come inside to engage with her teammates, and is probably more efficient when playing in front of a back three or with proper coverage to her offensive pushes. Because of her pace and high energy, she can also play up top, using her never-ending movement to torment opposing defenders and chase long passes.

St. John will appear with Albion Hurricanes FC RL 08 in their duels against Sting Black ECNL 09 and FC Westlake RL 08 in this weekend’s event. An offensive-minded outside back, she can play on both sides but typically features on the left and is at her best when deployed as a wingback with three center backs behind her. St. John is very quick and aggressive off the dribble, which makes of her a constant threat to opponents out wide. She also finishes well and operates efficiently in tight spaces, which allows her to play more centrally as an attacking midfielder or even a forward.

St. John and her Albion Hurricanes FC RL 08 team got a pair of wins and a tie in their matches at the Texas Shootout. She was mostly used on the left, but also spent some time on the right, producing well. With Albion using a back three, St. John had a lot of freedom to push forward and she took full advantage of it to consistently offer a passing option to her teammates. With her pace and ability to dribble the ball, she created some dangerous plays in wider positions, but also spent some time playing as a forward, more centrally, and did a good job of going at defenders.

A dynamic outside back, St. John has immediately become a big part of her Katy team. Her runs down the right are of her team’s main offensive weapons because of her ability to create chances. St. John is very fast and also extremely aggressive with her dribbling, constantly going at defenders and taking the ball to the end line – she’s also a very efficient crosser. The outside back plays with good energy on the defensive side of the game too, winning most duels in her area and doing a very good of avoiding balls in behind.
