The junior had a key role in Seven Lakes’ playing system from the defensive midfielder position. With many talented, offensive-minded players on the field for the Lady Spartans, it was up to Lumpkin to provide some defensive balance, holding her spot in front of the team’s backline. She was very active defensively, winning many duels in the center of the field and doing particularly well intercepting long passes with headers. Lumpkin also stood out in possession, moving the ball quickly and efficiently.

The sophomore midfielder was another key piece in the Spartans’ defensive system and one of the unsung heroes in their victory. Lumpkin was tasked with defending Ridge Point’s creative playmaker Laurel Kelley Laurel Kelley null | F/M Ridge Point | 2025 TX 1v1 and was very successful in her mission. The defensive midfielder didn’t allow her opponent much space on the ball and forced her to play back or sideways on most occasions, besides also getting some nice interceptions. Lumpkin dropped back to the backline when Orellana and Reed moved up to support Seven Lakes’ offense when the team was behind and provided some nice defensive coverage for them.

The sophomore had a solid shift at defensive midfielder, helping the Spartans dominate the central area of the field and forcing the Warriors to play wide. Lumpkin was very active defensively and covered a lot of ground in front of her team’s penalty box. Because of her excellent positioning, she was always in good spots to make interceptions and she also got to make tackles and blocks in what could have been dangerous plays around the penalty box. Lumpkin also did solid work on the ball, remaining calm in possession and, on some occasions, getting the ball under pressure and intelligently finding teammates in better spots.

Lumpkin has been gradually improving her role with Seven Lakes until becoming a starter for the Spartans. Her presence in front of the team’s backline has been very important for them to find some balance in a region of the field where the Spartans have several offensive-minded players. Lumpkin is very good at winning 1v1 duels and has displayed an interesting ability to man-mark opponents when needed as well. She’s a solid passer too and helps the team move the ball around when they dominate possession.

A freshman, Lumpkin was excellent in midfield for Seven Lakes, doing a very good job in terms of shielding the team’s backline. She played with good energy and was very smart to win duels in the center of the field. Lumpkin was tasked with defending Jordan’s main playmaker Madison Lambert Madison Lambert F/M Jordan | 2024 TX and remained very tight to her, limiting her opponent’s ability to get on the ball around the penalty box and create dangerous chances. The midfielder was solid with her passing too, keeping her errors very low and finding teammates in good spots.
