Playing next to Lawless in central defense, Brendel also performed very well and helped her team contain FC Dallas ‘s offensive push for most of the second half. The two displayed great chemistry and complemented each other very well, appearing in the right spots and helping with whatever was needed. The quickest of the two, Brendel made some important interventions inside and around the penalty box, dispossessing opponents and blocking shots in dangerous spots. She was also very involved in the team’s buildup and connected good passes out of the backline.

Brendel played for the Albion Hurricanes FC team that returned home from Dallas with one win and two losses. I got to wacth them in their only victgory, a 1-0 win over Eclipe Select, and the center back was one of their standouts. Playing on the left side of ther center back duo, Brendel benefited from her excellent positioning to have a solid defensive game, appearing on the right places to make stops or to cover her teamamtes. On the few occasions she was beaten, the defender did a great job of coming back and delaying opposing forwards by forcing them to make an extra dribble or to take the ball to their weak foot. She was also very accurate with her long passes, doing a great job of finding teammates in the attacking half.

A tough-minded and skilled player, Brendel brings a lot to the field for Stratford. Because of her quality, determination and intelligence, she can play anywhere across the backline and also in midfield at a very high level. A tenacious defensive player, she is very strong with her actions and can dominate even the most physical forwards when playing in central defense. Because of her mobility, Brendel is also very efficient when she has to cover her teammates in wider positions. The sophomore also has more than enough quality to impact the game in possession, displaying great vision and calm to connect great passes out of the back and help her team move the ball when playing in midfield.

Brendel and her Albion Hurricanes FC ECNL 09 team are scheduled to meet Sting Black RL 08 and DKSC RL 08 this weekend. She’s an incredibly versatile and well-rounded player, who can be used anywhere across the backline, as well as in midfield. Brendel is very quick to react and does an excellent job of defending in space, putting pressure on opponents and timing her tackles well. Despite not being very tall, she knows how to use her body to fight for space and shield the ball. The defender is also very calm and intelligent in possession, helping distribute the ball out of the back with tremendous efficiency.

keeping Challenge scoreless and giving goalkeeper Caroline Malek very little work to do. Playing as a left-sided center back, Brendel was flawless, defending very well in every situation. She was very quick to step up from his position and cover teammates when she had to and also used her body to win duels and shield the ball even against most physical opponents. The defender also did a very good job in possession.

Brendel is another freshman who not only earned a spot in Stratford’s starting lineup, but also managed to become massively important for the team. A very intelligent and well-rounded player, she can help in a lot of different ways and, by watching the Spartans twice this season, I’ve seen her play four different positions – defensive midfielder, right back, left back and center back. Brendel is very good at winning duels and has the energy to cover a lot of ground regardless of her position. She’s also a very good passer and has the confidence to make shifts and attempt long through balls from the middle.

As the most defensive player in the Spartans’ midfield, Brendel did a lot of work for them, patrolling the midfield and gaining possession. She covered a lot of ground and had great success in her duels, dominating the center of the field with her high-energy game. The freshman also displayed great quality when she had the ball, connecting accurate passes and helping the team’s buildup. Brendel was particularly good at switching the point of attack by quickly getting long passes across the field from her central position.

Brendel is a center back for AHFC. She plays as the left center back for her ECNL team. She is a standout for her club side. I don’t see previous USYNT Talent ID selections in her player history but she is at that level. She is one of the best defenders in this class in using her body. She isn’t afraid of contact and initiates it in most situations. She uses her body really well when shielding the ball out of play. She’s confident on the ball and has no hesitant when playing out against pressure. Brendel is a key piece of the AHFC defense that has been strong at the start of the season.
