After a slow week, with several regions of the Lone Star State having their spring back, action will resume around Texas in the next few days.
Prep Soccer has been following the action closely, covering multiple matches every week and reporting on the players having big roles with their teams and helping them succeed. As part of our coverage, we will also preview some matches we believe have the potential to be highly exciting and here is our pick for Tuesday, March 19:
Seven Lakes vs. Katy – 7:15 @ Seven Lakes HS
Seven Lakes
The Spartans are currently in first place in District 19, with 11 wins, two losses and one tie, and depend only on their efforts to secure the district title. Seven Lakes have been in great form lately, having won their last five matches while outscoring their opponents by 12-1. Their season record stands at 13-3-3.
The defense has been a strength for the Spartans, who have senior Valarie Trinh and junior Olivia Orellana keeping things tight at center back while senior Sydney Hill and junior Kennedy Reed Kennedy Reed null | D Seven Lakes | 2025 State TX provide great energy and contribute on both sides of the ball at outside back. Junior Chloe Callahan and senior Wagoner Towsen Wagoner Towsen F TX are the soul of the team’s midfield – the former brings a lot of energy to cover ground while the latter is a skilled playmaker, who makes things happen. Sophomore Anuhea Aalona has been the Spartans’ main attacker, bringing dynamism and quality on the ball as a striker or in the wings.
Katy
The Lady Tigers are having one of the best campaigns in program history and continue firmly in the mix for the district title – they are third right now, with ten wins, two losses and two ties. A victory over the Spartans would be pivotal for their plans and would extend Katy’s current unbeaten streak to nine matches – they have six wins and two ties, with 28 goals scored and four conceded in the period. The team has a 15-3-2 win record for the season.
Sophomore Lilah Schroeder has been really good for Katy between the posts. The Lady Tigers also have great quality in the backline, which is anchored by senior Hannah Phillips Hannah Phillips M Katy | 2024 State TX at center back and counts on the energy of freshman Kailey St. John Kailey St. John 5'3" | D Katy | 2027 TX at right back. Their midfield junior trio has been in great form too, with Aliah Stevens Aliah Stevens null | F TX and Chaila Ruiz bringing the energy and defensive coverage and Kendall Gussert Kendall Gussert M Katy | 2025 TX leading their chance creation. Katy have two of the most talented and lethal forwards in the district in junior Atiana Lara Atiana Lara 5'3" | F Katy | 2025 TX and freshman Baylee Corcoran Baylee Corcoran 5'6" | F Katy | 2027 State TX .
