The highly competitive ECNL club league kicked off its 2024-2025 season on the weekend of August 24-25, with the first Conference matches taking place around the country and setting the floor for what's going to be ten intense months of soccer.

The Texas Conference has been one of the strongest in the league in the last few years and will continue to be this season as some of the most talented players in the nation represent clubs from the region.

Prep Soccer Texas will be following the action weekly and providing coverage in text, photo and social media posts, giving the talented prospects from the Lone Star State some well-deserved recognition and exposure. We start our coverage featuring some players to watch in the upcoming season. This week, we'll dive deep into the talented U16 age group, and we recommend you know these talented midfielders if you don't already:

Cervantes operates as a central hub for her Dallas Texans ECNL 09 team, getting involved in everything they do on the field. She plays as more of a central midfielder, but has tremendous weight in the team's offense, helping create chances from her deeper position. Cervantes also hits the ball extremely well, which makes of her not only an excellent passer, but also a real threat in set pieces. The midfielder is also very active and efficient defensively, playing with great energy and covering a lot of ground when her team doesn't have the ball.

After standing out as the top scorer of the CONCACAF Girls' U15 Championship with the US national team, Reyna is back in action in the ECNL with Sting Austin ECNL 09. Undeniably one of the most talented players in her age group, she is a difference-maker for her team offensively. Capable of playing in midfield or as a forward, she's very smooth with the ball and, at times unstoppable with her dribbling ability and quality on both feet. Besides being an excellent playmaker, Reyna is also an incredible finisher, making of her the complete package when it comes to an offensive player.

https://x.com/ConcacafW/status/1822725604438896960

Burtnett plays a tremendous role for Sting Dallas Royal ECNL 09 in midfield. Sitting in front of the team's backline, she's a very strong defensive player, who gets many stops in the center of the field. Burtnett is not only very sharp and aggressive with her tackles, but she also does an excellent job of reading the game and cutting passing lanes, be it on the floor or in the air. She's also extremely well-versed in possession, consistently offering a passing option to her teammates and using her calm and vision to break pressure and find ways to make it past crowded areas of the field.

https://x.com/BradyBurtnett/status/1832241159403454837
